An ironic and biting satire, Hollywood and Vine is a hilarious parody of film celebrity culture and movie production. Hollywood and Vine is a famous intersection in that Mecca of moviemaking, and serves as the setting for this fine film. When James Ellison is hired to write a screenplay about getting discovered in Hollywood, he decides to do research at a small diner on the corner of Hollywood and Vine. Meeting the stereotypical girl from the Midwest who’s hoping for stardom, Ellison quickly finds a much bigger star: the girl’s amiable dog! All of a sudden, Hollywood and Vine is the ridiculous story of this cute canine’s rise to the top. And this sets the stage for a riotous look at Hollywood in the forties: the dog making shady deals, the dog getting wrapped up in scandals, etc. A great way to experience the history of Hollywood, and have some good laughs, Hollywood and Vine delivers.
