Car Runs On Compressed Air

  • Bullshit

Air is free, but compressed air isn't. The amount of energy you can store in compressed air to run the engine is never more than the energy it cost you to compress air. Where do you get energy to compress air if not from burning oil/wood? The more steps there are, the more energy wasted.

    • How often did you fail in science class?

Don't limit yourself to that single idea? We have the renewable sources of energy such as the solar, wind, geothermal, etc..We can use those sources of energy to compress air.

    • Sorry, but those energy sources are alre...

If you take some of those energy sources to compress air, then you'll just have to burn more oil or coal to replace the electricity they were generating.

You can't beat the laws of physics.

    • No actually..Available in the US in 2010

ZPM will begin taking reservations in mid-2009 for US deliveries of the compressed air vehicle in 2010. Check our Zero Pollution Motors.

    • Huh

Why do people like you comment before the end of the video?

By ace121391 1208407171 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • The end of the video was even worse!

Saying they have a machine to compress the air that itself runs on compressed air, and that if it were installed on board the car, it would be a perpetual motion machine. That's an incredibly naive statement.

    • and btw

if it's such simple and practical you would see compressed-air cars all around the world instead of only in crap science videos like this

By random_comment 1208404882 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Its not that simple like the way u think

Do you think it's that easy to penetrate the market when you your direct competitors are the oil companies? This invention is a great threat to their business. Would they just let it happen? Think...

By crackerice 1208584176 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • They wouldn't have any choice.

If there were anything to this "invention" (and there isn't), he would just sell the cars himself and get rich.

By FrankDK 1210380472 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Really?

so you can compress enough air in 3 minutes to run 200 miles in a car that holds 5 people. And it takes that long to fill 1 scuba tank to use for 1 person for about 1 hour. Amazing. I'd have to see this for myself.

By htiffirg 1208473981 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • That sounded pretty good

until the very end, which demonstrates a disturbing lack of knowledge regarding the basic rules of physics. Nevertheless, if they can get it to go a little faster, it may have some real potential.

Also, a better way of compressing the air would be to put solar cells on top. These would charge a battery that would then, when necessary, power an on board air compressor.

  • fantastic!!!

I heard about this around a month ago in the newpaper, i was reading it whilst on the train, what did I do? i took a snap shot on my phone and sent it to everyone that I know and got them to send it on, I even have the clipping still in my wallet. Make sure you let everyone know about this!!! dont let it die like other great ideas. Well done for uploading this video I have given you 5* and everyone else should. I WILL be buying one of these cars when they are released in the UK shame he needs more funding. I spose if my country didnt let in all the imagrants we could afford to lose some money from petrol tax but it isnt the case. Sorry about my rambling.... check my videos out. :)

  • Nice work

I've been working on my own concept, not even close to being able to making a prototype($$$$$$)

By seph4design 1210556823 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Brilliant until the end

I have a model steam engine that has never been fired up with coal to produce steam (to keep it in mint condition). It runs perfectly well on compressed air, so I can see a real possibility here.

  • Who needs petrol?

From what I can see in the video, this car has lights and most likely a CD player. So there must be a battery in there somewhere with some kind of alternator system to charge it. Why not plug in a high powered 12-24 volt air compressor system to recharge the tanks. Just a thought. By the way I'm sold.

By easyalternativepower 1209700758 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • How stupid can you get?

The energy required to run the compressor would be greater than the energy you could get back from the compressed air. Simple thermodynamics.

      Your system would never work.

By FrankDK 1210379859 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • They'd

need a way to filter the air from water and dust to refill the compressed tanks I would think.

By RawP0wR 1209043627 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • SO

nvm they should find a way to hook the alternator to the wheels so that it will not need electricity and be able to run with out refills needed

By wzdog 1208979462 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • SO..

does it really get infinite miles and never need to be refilled if the alternator actually puts compressed air back into the tanks...

As in your Fukin Alternator in your car, what do you think that does? and Yes it would not complete the task most likely but it would add to the life of the MPG theory. It has been a proven fact for the past 20 plus years with air and other motors but U know what that will not be cost effective till guess when. And of course they think that they know what is going to be best for us.

Refilling d automobile w/ compressed air wud take around 2 or 3 mins.

That's what my dad said, anyway.

It is wierd that of all the smart comments on here no one has noticed that the car is made of plastic has plastic and rubber parts and requires OIL to lubricate the bearings and motor. All products of the oil companies. The oil companies would love this car that every one in the world could afford.Could you imagine if every person bought one.The oil companies couldn't keep up.
    Just a thought.

  • oil companies

Oil companies have been buying these ideas for years. They have also been accused of murdering manufactures who even come close to threatening their investments. It wont even hit the market. If it does the government will want to tax the air we breath.

By g4orce1 1208427354 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Not only the oil companies...

but the government also wont allow it. Just imagine the revenues lost on gas tax alone. We're all tax slaves, remember that.

than the US... they need to withstand impact at over 80 miles/hr... what highway in the US can you drive at that speed?

  • Refilling

Refilling the automobile will take place at an adapted petrol stations to administer compressed air in two or three minutes and at a cost of approximately 2 dollars (1.5 Euros), the car will be ready to go another 125-175 miles (200-300 km).

By alexa21 1208392257 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • Same as any other energy storage system

Just like battery-electric cars, which need a source of energy to charge them up, this car needs a source of energy to generate the compressed air in the cylinders - it is not a zero emission vehicle. But it is clean where it is being used which is nice for the city environment. Don't expect it to necessarily replace normal cars elsewhere.

By KeeperOfTheKitten 1208380572 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • It's all good

Until the oil companies snuff it out. like the car that got 300 miles to the gallon, don't hear about that anymore do you?

  • 15 thousand dollars

Especially if you lived and worked close to a city that would be great. However, it might not meet the impact standards in the USA.

  • Why stop at cars - We should power every...

Call Al Gore, if he's willing to ignore science and preach "global warming" regardless of the facts, he would probably be willing to back something like this too.

The ending is great - use the power of the compressed air to run the air compressor which is used to power the motor and the compressor.

Lets see. 1 unit of power in and >1 unit of power out. Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

  • It won't require a corporate conspiracy ...

the vehicle will have a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) that will be linked to the onboard computer, and without sufficient air pressure the vehicle won't move.

  • Electricity

runs the air compressor. Plug it in the wall in my garage, flip a switch and the air compressor will fill up the air tank, or run the tobacco presses and steamer in the stripping room. No motors...I mean, no gas motors at all. So, run a good compressor that can give a fillup pretty quick and you on the go, or have one that fills the tanks as you drive, sort of like the way a battery is recharging while you car is driving, except it is the tanks. Turn the key, the compressed air tanks spin the motor and your car is running. A part of the motor charges the generator which runs the air compressor which fill up the air tanks, and "the wheels keeps on turnin."

can I buy one of these? 200 miles before refueling? That's the mileage that my Goldwing gets with me and my wife and pulling our trailor. Except, now it costs to put that 6.4 gallons in the tank. Man, get a motorcycle that runs on compressed air and you'll really have the real deal. and the generator that makes the compressed air runs on compressed air. I could drive from New York to California for free. Just wear and tear on the car. And, we can breath again. Nobody owns the air, so these cars probably will never be sold. If so, the oil companies will have a monopoly on the market.

will be killed by oil and car manufacturing companies or will be paid off to shut their brilliant idea. it happens all the times otherwise why the Electric and solar cars are not out yet? My wishes to these guys, that they stay safe.
