The musical saw is an attention grabber. People may think it's a dangerous instrument but soon admire the wide range of notes and tonal qualities. The musical saw was a popular instrument of the music halls of the 1920s in the UK. It's making a come back in the US & Japan. This video was shot in the McGill College Metro station (Montreal, Quebec) in 1984.
"O Canada" was proclaimed Canada's national anthem on July 1, 1980, 100 years after it was first sung on June 24, 1880. The music was composed by Calixa Lavallée, a well-known composer; French lyrics to accompany the music were written by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The version on which the official English lyrics are based was written in 1908 by Mr. Justice Robert Stanley Weir. SOCAN has declared it in the public domain.
