- Look at
  If u realise that before he release the sands from his hand, he will reach out for someting from his back. im guessing ,it's a tube which is connected to his pants where he kept all the sands. the tube is probably abit like his skin colour so that it's not really noticable. and u'll notice that he's putting an effort to not show his side of his arm which is closer to his body.

  what he does when he reach his back is maybe to on a switch i guess, so that sand can be pump out of the tube.
  
  so when it's pump, it would be smooth flow.
  
  each switch is limited to a certain amount of sand.
  
  and the sands would not flow out immediately because it would take a while to reach the tube's end.
