      Ok first, ice floats, thus when the ice melts just enough to be clear but not enough to release the mint, the trick will be blown. Secondly, if it takes a while for the ice to melt, chances are the person has consumed some of the soda in the cup; when the mint was released into the liquid, it would just bubble a little and flatten the soda. The cup used in the video appeared to be filled to the very brim of the cup.... seriously, who does that in real life?

        Doesnt the ice float to the top. so you would be able to see the mentos before it finishes melting.
