But english is universally accepted since it's the most spoken language in the world and is recognized as the second or third language for many countries around the world. It's the global language. But you are right... it's not universally understood, although it's getting there.

Language that is most spoken in the world is currently chinese aka mandarin. Ni Shi Yi Ge Ben Dan!! ROFLMAO!

English is currently one of the most widely spoken and written languages worldwide, but Chinese and Hindi have more native speakers ( though Spanish is similar in number ).

That's what I tried to say in my previous point. India has many languages, with English being their second language. One third of Indians speak english fluently. That's around 333 000 000 people. That's more than the population of the United States. But like you said Hindi has more NATIVE speakers and same thing goes for chinese. What I was trying to say was that the most used language in the world is english thus it should be used here on Metacafe unless other languages can be translated to english for all to understand.

I don't mind what language people write their comments in. If I don't understand it, I move on. Just like when I don't like a clip. This site is a www site - you know, WORLD WIDE web. People from all over the world view it, so why should they not be allowed to converse in their native tongue? What makes people who understand English so much more important than those who don't? Are you frustrated because you think you're misssing out on something? Do you have any idea how many people probably view this site that understand very little, if any, of the English comments written? Let everyone enjoy the site, and when you don't understand them, just move along. 'Nuff said. I'm out.

I'm only mid-30's, but have VERY conservative parents. Maybe a bit too much so, but at least I learned respect, honesty, and to admit when I'm wrong. (I have to do that last one a lot, esp. with my wife, heh heh.) I'll be old when I damn good and ready; which will probably be just a few minutes after I die!
