This is my old 8mm home video of the 1992 King Mango Strut Parade
showing one of the best parts- the Hurricane Andrew Country Walk goof
where the parade goers each hold parts of a cardboard house and walk
with it and stop every few yards and ask the crowd to blow it away.
When you consider this was only a few months after Hurricane Andrew
blew away thousands of peoples homes here makes this spectacle a hilarious ,
cockeyed and bittersweet street theatre.. included are the marching Blind building inpectors
and the FEMA chanting crowds and fake Rick Sanchezless channel 7 news
reporters and the Famous marching Freds bringing up the rear.
The ability for my fellow locals to make fun of our disaster made me proud
to be born here, there a lot of bad things about South Florida but this was
a wonderful moment I have never forgotten... don't miss the King mango strut
each year, it is one of the best events in Miami.

south Florida focus.
