Teahupoo, Tahiti (Monday 28th April 2008): HAWAIIAN hot-shot JAMIE O’BRIEN has defeated a class field of over 80 big wave surfers to win the Air Tahiti Nui – VonZipper Trials in Tahiti.

In heavy 3m surf, the 2006 Pipeline Masters Champion defeated talented Brazilian Bruno Santos in an epic final. The pair trade 8 and 9 point rides before O’Brien snatched victory in the last 40-seconds with a perfect ten.

Both surfers have won coveted wildcards into the Billabong Pro Tahiti main event which gets underway on May 8th.
