Get your lungs back...Quick!!!Stop smoking man!! Your lungs are escaping...
about 7 months ago, after 15 years of smoking. I used to smoke about a pack a day (20). I can tell you that i feel like i am 18 years old again! Quit smoking AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!
By Johnny_b17 1147738179 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI don't miss it at all. I smoked fopr 30 years I was up to 3 packs a day. For me it was quit or die.
By Frankm 1148006018 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI can't tell you how many ill patients I have to treat and their lives would improve so much if they just stopped smoking heavily (or at all). I'm doing residency in a hospital and I've seen first hand doctors who refuse to do surgery on smokers, alcoholics, and seriously obese people just because they don't see any benefit if those patients are just going to be coming back to the operating table every 6 months - a year. This is not allowed legally but is often done by doctors (generally by those paid on salary... many are paid on salary in Canada) who actually care about what they do rather than doing as many operations as possible. The bad thing about doctors paid on salary is that they often slack off since they aren't paid based on the number of patients they receive/ operations they do. This is one of the reason Canada has such high wait times for surgeries. Anyways... I commend your effort on quitting that filthy habbit!

By sacamouny 1147808484 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Remove....and counting. I don't see myself quitting any time soon either. I started when I was 12 and I'm now 22. I smoke (and always did) about a half a pack a day (12). Not so much that it's addictive but I actually enjoy it.
As for anyone that views this as bad, take a look at the hard drug users, heavy drinkers and pot smokers along with their parents that talk to their kids about drugs after they've downed half a bottle of Tylenol or Zoloft. Not that they actually have a mental condition or a daily headache but they've become accustomed to it.
I smoked marijauna once and realized it just isn't for me. I've never touched any other drug either and actually don't bother with Tylenol. Pain is a part of life but some people think they need drugs to get them through the day because noone can deal with their own emotions anymore. I call it life. Others should do that same.
My roasting begins.....
WHY NOT SHOW A LIVER FOR ALL THE LIQUOR USERS OR A HEART FOR ALL THE FAST FOOD EATERS??
GET SICK OF PEOPLE PICKING ON SMOKERS BUT ALL THE DEATH AND DICOMFORT CAUSED BY OTHER ABUSE IS IGNORED!!!
i understand what u mean that these companies dont show adverts of people eating fast food, or drinking - and they should show more adverts like that as well. I had to work in health promotion for several years, the main reason why it is at the top of the list is because it effects people in the near vacinity due to passive smoking. Other unhealthy habits like eating fatty foods or drinking dont inadvertantly affect the people around you. But i think that also if we are going to be picking on smokers to try and give up such a difficult addiction then we should be providing all forms of treatment - like nicorette patches for free - and making the giving up process as easy as possible.
By raggydoll 1147747242 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe only problem that I have with smoking is that it becomes addictive. It gets to the point where people will spend hundreds of dollars a month on their habit, and that is destructive. Cigars are not as addicting (I smoke one about once every month), and also aren't harmful to the lungs because you don't inhale cigar smoke (usually).
The secret is moderation. If you do ANYTHING too excessively, it could be harmful. This could be true with eating, sex, or even breathing (hyper ventilation)! The problem with cigarettes isn't so much that they're harmful, just that people get addicted to them and smoke more than their bodies can handle.
Lol, anyone see "Thank you for smoking"? Great movie!
ever heard of mouth or throat cancer, retard. so, you dont inhale; okay, you dont get lung cancer, thats it. Cigars are also not filtered so ummm....yeah guess what
By SmonkDragn 1147728375 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBefore resorting to "ummm...yeah guess what", read my comment, you idiot. I never said cigars aren't harmful, I said they werent to the lungs.
My point is that they arent SERIOUSLY harmful if you smoke one occasionally. Here is a doctor's review of a report on cigars: http://www. cigargroup .com/faq/health /ncifaq.htm The chart shows not that much of a increase in risk for non-smokers and 1-2 a day smokers (Many, including me, smoke less than that). Larynx cancer is the only thing seriously increased. Go and read the final thoughts at the bottom. As I said in my first comment, if you don't smoke that much, you should be fine. The ADDICTION to tobacco is what really kills people.
I'm assuming that you stay the hell away from cell phones, too, because they give you brain cancer, right?
Hope it proves effective.
