    You always hear that F1 or Indy car or Champ car drivers are the most skilled drivers in the world. Sorry but no. Rally drivers IMO are the most skilled drivers in the world. They have to cope with varying conditions and on different surfaces. Its a shame that this guy crashed but thats one of the hazards associated with rallying.. And they never face the same road twice even though they may repeat a stage.

    OK folks, I've read all the posts and I'd like to make one comment and one recommendation. First, the gentleman driving the porsche is an outstanding competition driver. I could watch video like that all day. He did an excellent job on a demanding and very long Special Stage. If you guys in the US want to discover what Rally is all about, check out the SCCA or NASA Rallysports web sites. Find a Rallycross location near you and go to the event. All you need is $50 to enter. You don't have to join any organization and no special mods are required to your car. They even have loaner helmets. The courses are designed to be safe, fun, and smooth enough to not break your daily driver. Do expect to take the car to the car wash afterwards. There will be plenty of either dust, mud, or sand. Rallycross is where competition drivers and navigators are created here in the states. If you like cars you will find yourself in good company, rally enthusiasts are without a doubt the friendliest bunch in motorsports. There are no snobs in this group, come one out and play!

    You probably don`t have a clue about driving. This guy is driving a 964 on wet in a very narrow road. This driver has guts and know what what he`s doing. A crash in rally is nothing strange. You probably have never put your fat ass in a 911 and dont even know how hard is to drive it clean at that speed. Morons like you are good for dragster. Shut up and learn. You can find great skills in this video.

    Ok, we all know everyone has different preferences. But to cry down someon elses is just wrong. RRallying is amazing. U have to take your hats off to guys like Tommy Makinen. Peter Solberg etc. etc. Look at the cotrol these guys have, look at the video and watch how the steering is going crazy. Car sliding all over on the wet road, mud, gravel etc. Also, doing about an average of 100 - 160 mph on a road barely inches wider than the car itself! These guys are amazing. And no discredit to the Americans but WRC is a much higher class of skill, focus, guts and glory than any Nascar or Circuit racing. So dont judge!!!

      Petter solberg is from Norway he grew up in a small town called askim/spydeberg Thats like 20miles from my house..
      One of the main reasons to his skillz.. He grew up in a farm? i believe and he and his brother Henning (also a famous rally driver in Norway) bought cars which where going to the scrapheap for like 200-300$ and they drived them on the cornfields? in their area on farms around there.

      well its a 993 gen 911...probably a 94, by 97 98 the front bumper had changed alot and im almost certain its a turbo... i can hear it and the 993 turbos came with a fixed spoiler

    If you can appreciate the skill it takes to do something like rally racing (or any racing for that matter), maybe it will become more than just another "when is the crash" clip. Hats off to drivers of that caliber.

      hate to say it but, there is always a but, HAHAHAHA. second but, he was doing sweet untli his brain or arms got tired. i think he was very competetive. you hear the motor and he didn't brick very many turns.... very fluid. i think he just got worn out from driving on wet curvy roads. he should have made that turn. sorry dude S**ks for u! 4star. bring it.

      Clearly this is not top-level racing. He's safing into every curve. The real big-guns of this sport wait til the very last split-second and then slam on the breaks to make the turn at absolutely max speed. This guy just eases up on the throttle with 100 yds. to go and then floors it as soon as he is through the curve. For the real stuff, try searching for some WRC-footage. They would have beaten this dude by 30 sec. pr. mile. At least.

      A tad bit long, but still a great driver, just remember that there is TWO, the driver and the navigator, both have equal responsibility, if the navigator told the driver he had a turn to the left.....or mabey that on the other side of the hill was open, then the outcome mabey would have been a win, instead that damn house was drinking again, and wandered out in the middle of the road during a rally race. That'll teach that ole bastard once and for all.
      P.S. nobody has started a race war between the Arabs and the Americans on this post yet. hehehheheheh

      Just unlucky. He had to be cautious as the car is a 911 and the model he was driving was just rear wheel drive not the 4 wheel drive versions. so he had to be careful when applying the power other wise he wouldv'e crashed a lot sooner than he did.
