Hey movie goers! You’re watching GettheDaily.com. I’m Dana Ward here with the 4-1-1 on the brand-spanking-new movies opening at the theatres this weekend.
The much-awaited Iron Man will likely be taking over the box office. This is an action-adventure film filled with heros and villains alike. Robert Downey Jr stars as a rich inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a deadly weapon. This smart philanthropist decides to create an indestructible armor suit to escape and then fight evil to save the world. Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard and other star powers help move along the action-packed comic-based flick.
Another high-action flick hitting theatres this weekend is the martial arts drama, Redbelt. A pro jujitsu master finds himself struck by the glitz of Hollywood when he’s asked to contend in prizefighting for the cameras. Before long, he is manipulated into partaking in ultimate-fighting-championship-style bouts with actors. In between getting horrible beatdowns, the martial arts master finds a unique opportunity in the ring to regain his honor.
The romantic comedy of the summer will leave you saying ‘I Do’. Made of Honor stars Patrick ‘McDreamy’ Dempsey realizing his best friend of years, played by Michelle Monaghan, is actually the girl-of-his-dreams… and of course it’s just as she tells him she’s engaged. The bride-to-be asks her BOY b-f-f to be her maid-of-honor and from the inside, he’s on a mission to win back his girl’s heart.
Another movie all about love and connection between two hearts is Mister Lonely. A Michael Jackson impersonator falls for a Marilyn Monroe impersonator. These two celeb-wannabes live life and travel together, and the comedic drama even introduces a few more of our favorite Old School Hollywood characters.
An interesting premise drives the comedy, Son of Rambow. The story follows a young Brit boy in the 80s who is raised in an isolated religious society. He starts on a conquest with a school bully to create their own action epic, after secretly watching his first movie, Rambo: First Blood.
If you’re more in the mood for a serious film, check out the war-drama, Fugitive Pieces. It follows the life of a young boy into adulthood, starting with the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1942 and the killing of his parents. He’s smuggled to safety and he’s forced to deal with his past in order to move on to the future. This film is about love, loss and salvation.
Plus, there will be a few sneak-peeks of the upcoming comedy, What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas, starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher.
