the wave in that movie had a cresent form to it, but a wave at that size and magnitude cant generate a cresent, it is more of a large hill type shape cuz of the mass of water it carries.

lol, if you guys look closely, the nuclear bomb (or whatever the hell it was) blew away the clouds so that you could see water stretching over the entire hemisphere. The only ocean that big is the Pacific, and New York is on the Atlantic. How the hell would waves travel all the way to New Yorl and hit from the opposite direction it was traveling in?!
That director needs to rethink some things, man...

Didn't see it mentioned, but maybe i missed it... Anyway this wave is from the movie Deep Impact, which came out roughly the same time (about two weeks earlier) than armageddon. It kind of got lost in the hype and media blitz that ssurrounded armageddon.

This would be a scene from the movie DEEP IMPACT.. starring Morgan Freeman, Tia Leony, Frodo Baggins, amoung others.. It is not a nuke going off... it is a fragment of comet hitting the earth.. Nukes, i don't care if they are a Gigaton are not going to make a wave 3,000 feet tall.. just not in the realm of reality.. however a chunk of rock a quarter of a mile across impacting with the force of a few million megatons can make a wave like that...
any much bigger than that and you get solid body waves... (aka the earths crust doing what the ocean did in this scene)

I'm not sure from which film this is taken (maybe armageddon) but it's most certainly not from 'the day after tomorrow' because that film didn't include the commet hit in the ocean (you can see it in this clip, the first 3 seconds or so)

Actually there are no commets / nuclear explosions in 'the day after tomorrow', so that's not it.

This actually happened the other day. I was in New York. I was taking a picture of the statue of Liberty when the wave hit. I nearly dropped my camera and my feet were soaking wet. It was a really shitty day!!
