If the safety factors are not compromised I would like it. As a person who is disabled and limited to the use of one arm, I could go on forever about how difficult it is to get in and out of vehicles, especially in windy conditions and where hills are involved.

I would call it "Convertible Door". I is very practical in many situations, however it does comprise on the safety and it is easy to break in.

From the appearance of the video am I correct in assuming this is a dual skin mechanism, with the mechanics inside? Do you have room for dual or triple hydraulic rams that would come across in inner skins to lock into reinforced points in the bodyshell, thus providing a concealed barrier against potential impacts. These could retract when park/neutral and handbrake applied automatically. What do you think?

When your car is wet from the inside and it damages the electronic and you are sitting in the car, you can't open the door anymore! That would be funny... Or you leg comes between it

thay are the coolest trick doors ive seen...the interior trim is the only thing i didnt like...as for the rest of you...get in your hybrid cars, drive into the forest and hug a damn tree!

But not so good in areas which get heavy winter snow, and cold weather. Slush and ice would play havoc with the mechanism, I would think.
