I show how to crack a master lock using a pencil and paper and a few minutes of time. In my opinion 10 minutes to crack a lock is more practical than carrying a shim around.

    I can confirm that this works like a charm! I tried this on a lock on a box that contained my coin collection. I forgot the combination years ago, and I ended up just taking the top off the box to open it.

    The fact that the lock was still attached really bothered me, however. I was doubtful that this would actually work, but shortly after starting to try numbers the lock popped open!

    Luckily, my combination was 4-6-0, so I didn't have to work at it for more than a few minutes before it unlocked.

    Way too much is left out to even know if this is valid or not. I've watched two of these number sequence approaches now and this one is less clear than the last.

    If we are to use this we first have to see it work in a reliable repeatable way and have confidence in it. As usual, the lock pops open for the author-producer, but not for the student.
