160 Pleasant Street Apartments For Rent in Malden MA

  • Don't suggest to move in this apartment

We live in 160 Pleasant Street (Malden, MA, 02148) only 6 month. we paid the leasing office a deposit of $500 when we moved in.

After we moved out for more than 1 month, the leasing office replaces the carpet with a new carpet. According to their receipt, the total cost including labor is $1885.

They send us the refund check of $27.5 and charged $472.5 to our deposit for replacing the carpet. We are very sure the carpet is in very good condition when we moved out and there is not actual damage that deserves to replacing the whole carpet, especially given the fact that we only lives in the apartment for 6 months and the fact that the carpet was not new when we moved in.

We called them to ask why the deposit was almost all taken away. They give very fuzzy explanation and won't give explicit answer. They did not inform us in advance the decision to replace the carpet or inform us the exact damage leading to the replacement. In fact, when I called the leasing manager, he did not even remember what the damage was. In fact, the day we moved out, nobody from the leasing office is around to do the inspection while we were still present. A couple of weeks after we moved out, when I called to find out their inspection results, the manager still didn't have any information to share.

We expressed frustration and ask them to reconsider. We felt that there is no damage we have caused whatsoever other than reasonable wear and tear associated with normal use. We did a very thorough cleaning before we moved out.

Astoundingly, in less than a week after the conversation, they sent another bill. Now they ask us to pay the whole $1885!! This is ridiculous and obvious retaliation against us as tenants after we complained to them.

The carpet was used for almost 2 years before we moved in. We lived there for only 6 months, they replace the whole carpet without notifying us and try to make us bear all the costs of buying a new carpet and replacing the old carpet, purely out of retaliation.

As responsible tenants with very good credit history, we never experienced this before with any other landlord. We strongly felt they are trying to take advantage of us.

So we don't suggest you to move into the apartment of 160 Pleasant Street, MA 02148.

  • DON'T LIVE 160 Pleasant street,Malden,MA

I just move out of 160 Pleasant street, Malden, MA 02148, and I call them for return my deposit which I gave to them at the time I moved in. But they took almost all my deposit for replacing new staff for the apartment without telling me. I just know it until I ask them. 160 Pleasant street, Malden, MA DOESN'T WORTH YOU TO TRUST TO LIVE IN THERE!!! I DO NOT SUGGEST YOU TO LIVE IN THIS APARTMENT.
