hmmmmm......
can someone please put in a clear, desriptive instruction on how to do this please. apparently therres something to do with the middle finger but looking at the video both middle fingers dont do anything.

Easy..
Stretch a rubber band between your left index finger and thumb, with your right hand hang a rubber band on your right index finger and hang the rubber band behind the rubber band on the other hand.

Now you twist and turn a bit, for show and confusion.

Then as you pull your right hand towards you, you your right middle finger picks up the right rubber band, and when you move your right hand forwards again your right index finger picks up the right rubber band from beneith the left rubber band.

Presto, the right rubber band is on the right of the left rubber band, you rub them together for show some more and slowly pull them apart.. or "through the other rubber band" as your crowd's eyes will make them see.

It's real easy once you get the hang of it..

- I think he means
  Put the right rubber band on the left hand's right hand side where the right hand's left rubber band used to be before it was moved to the left hand side of the right hand. Next put the left rubber band in between the left and right fingers of the right hand while continuosly oscillating the pinky on your left hand to the right and left. You know you've got it right when the right hand side of the left hand is under the left hand side of the right hand's top right hand side and your left foot is wearing your right hand's leather glove.
  That should pretty much clear it up for you I think.

I can do this
This is all about quick fingers. When you stretch the bands you let go of one end and make a fast finger move. I can reproduce this one every two tries.
