hmm
you were seperating both the oxygen and hydrogen and weren't collecting them in anything. In order to get one or the other one of the wires would have to be on the outside of the container. But i think you had the right idea.

  use dish soap to create the bubbles, bubbles collect the hho gas, and light. If you use stainless steel for the wires it wont corode as fast or turn green.
