Up first, the Treasury Department may be ordered to redesign U-S money. A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that the U-S discriminates against blind people by printing paper money that amounts can only be distinguished between visually. Some possible changes include making various sized bills or printing the bills with raised markings. While the U-S says that most of the blind have adapted: some asking help from store workers, using credit cards and folding certain corners of bills, the federal appeals court says the U-S must move to make sufficient bill improvements for the blind, especially as it would come as a relatively small cost. This week’s ruling upheld a 2006 lower court ruling.
