A Novel Solution To An Important Problem

Airplanes are expensive... and valuable...especially when they're yours. Securing them properly has always been a concern to owners and operators but in an era when access and security of aircraft is becoming more and more a "Public" issue, novel solutions to aircraft security would seem to be apropos. Such is the case with Airlock Security... a company has developed and "Electronic" key that is both self-powered, as well as "intelligent in order to offer not only security but intelligent access to an aircraft, a hangar or critical components, at the behest of the owner/operator.

The AirLock system is an "innovative lock system that easily converts existing mechanical locks into an access control system." The system is comprised of three individual components: the lock cylinder, the programmable key and the software used to program the system.

Airlock Features Allow:

• Enables owners/operators to schedule limited access to any area of an aircraft
• Provides the ability to create an audit trail to determine when the plane was accessed or when access was attempted and by whom
• Allows key to be disabled if lost or stolen
• Software support enables users to remotely program the system from any location
• Simple installation with no wiring of any kind
• Allows a single key to access multiple aircraft as well as hanger and gate locks

Each lock cylinder is an electronic version of the mechanical lock. Installing the cylinder into the lock hardware is reportedly as simple as removing the mechanical cylinder and replacing it with the AirLock assembly. The AirLock cylinder uses no wiring of any kind, and does not contain a battery. The power required to open the AirLock is actually contained within a battery located within the key. AirLock cylinders do not contain a keyway and cannot be picked like a traditional mechanical lock. Additionally, it is not possible to duplicate a key for use in the lock. Although multiple keys can be programmed to access a given lock, each key also creates its own unique record of events -- which cane be accessed and downloaded at the owner/operators discretion...

Each lock contains:

• A unique ID number that cannot be changed or duplicated
• A list of the most recent 1,100 access events: Key ID, date, time and type of event
• Encrypted access codes, created by the software and derived from your passwords

Each key contains:

• A unique ID number that cannot be changed or duplicated
• A list of up to 3,900 access events: lock ID, date and time, and type of event
• The access permissions for that specific key
• Encrypted access codes, created by your software and derived for your passwords
