405 freeway , there was night work going on the freeway and they shot down the 2 right lanes , so only 3 lanes were available , and 1 of these 3 lanes were blocked by that van , so only 2 lanes were drivable , nobody bothered to reduce their speed , and that was the result .

ppl distracted by the sight of someone filming at the side of the road they are watching him instead of looking whats going on ahead. In England we have stuff like this on our motorways (freeways) when idiots slow down in the opposite lane to have a look at an accident and others run into the back of them.

a ) the 101 freeway doesnt have any carpool lanes on it , the van was stalled in the carpool lane , the 405 does have a carpool lane , b ) the 101 don't have any exit on Victory bl , c ) the 101 sign that you're seeing on the board is an exit to take the 101 after Burbank exit and before Ventura exit . This crash happened on the 405 South Bound between Sherman Way and Victory .

probably made the drivers think there was a ghost driver onto the road and so they didn't know what to do. Either crash into the ghost driver or into the tail of the stalled van. Of course, a frontal crash is much worse then a rear crash so they ramed into the van. Also, here in Belgium we have a special lane for cars with troubles so that doesn't happen here. Tss, America... Five lanes to break the law on by speeding and not a single lane that can save 5 cars!

The man who is talking while the clip is playing says that when the mustage is hit the second time it is a 'violent' collision. 1) The Car only hits the back of the car giving it a slight bump, the mustages break lights are still working showing it was not that bad. 2) Only injury was a twisted ankel so nothing was that bad, maybe some shock though.
You would of thought that the mustage driver would have seen the lights of the truck in the first place, and the same goes for all the other drivers, but hey, no one is perfect they all just going to have to pay loads, haha.

Now I really felt a shiver goin through my body while seein this! It just looks aweful, but am glad it was caught on tape though!
The funny thing, is that am Egyptian, livin in Egypt, n' it IS a fact that traffic in Egypt is more like a circus or a jungle than it is to traffic! However, you merely see such accidents where there are many cars involved, I think it's simply because people know that the MAIN rule is that there is NO rule, so they just pay more attention to things like a van on the fast lane, or any other situtation that is in "normal countries" unprobable! When you're just drivin on the freeway n' you're sure that nothin like this can happen, when one does, you simply crash into it, cuz you never expect it, but in Egypt, ANYTHIN is expected, n' this really includes anythin that you probably would never imagine! But still such crashes are not usual! I've seen crashes on the american highways where atleast acoupla dozens of cars crash into each other, n' I can only say it's stupid not to see it comin!

Much as I love to drive fast (a 2000 Maxima), IT WAS A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, slow down people! This is why most places in the US double the fines for speeding in a construction zone.
For that matter, did nobody have any of those reflective emergency triangles or road flares? or did this pile up just happen too fast? The video seemed edited for time.

They will usually do the road work at night due to both the heat, and lower traffic volume. In the daytime, this freeway would be a parking lot already, let alone have them close down a lane.
