Reggie Ranathunga passed away-

Former Minister and Gampaha district MP Reggie Ranathunga passed away this morning (31) in a private hospital.


Mr. Ranathunga elected as MP for Minuwangoda electorate in 1970. He lost the seat eventually at the 2000 general election.

He was later appointed as the Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province. After the demise of MP Sriathi Suriyaarachchi, Mr. Ranathunga replaced his seat in the parliament.

Mr. Reggie Ranathunga is the father of former Sri Lanka Cricket captain and MP Arjuna Ranathunga
