Mistranslated
Probably uploaded and titled by someone not familiar with the English language. Would be interesting to know in what country the contributor lives. But, yeah...this was a landslide, not an earthquake, unless an earthquake preceded it, before filming began. I think this happened in Japan, too, and it's not new. This clip has been on Metacafe before, about 2-3 years ago, if I'm not mistaken.

The roots of trees are supposed to sorta keep soil from doing just this. It's supposed to keep the lan from falling apart, and that whole part was full of trees.
Actually, on second thought the trees were coming down with the land, so maybe the land was "cut off" from below the roots and the trees were just stuck there.......
