    Vietnam wanted to become an independent country after the fall of the last emperor of VN. Without support from the US declaring it independent from France(early ruler of the most Indochina, southeast asia), Vietnam leaning toward communist with the guide of Ho Chi Mich(that's my man :) ). Eisenhower state that they'll support any revolt against communist, because they want to spread the US's belief (free of religious, democracy, etc) so they start the war. As you can see in this video Vietnam lack of weaponary but they still overcome even they're overwhelm 10-1 soldiers and technology. VIETNAME WON INDEPENDENT IN THE END, I"M VIET

      They must feed a bunch of crap to you over there but the South Vietnamese were on the verge of collapsing to the communists when the US was forced into escalation or to allow the communists to take over. Communists outnumbered American forces by a longshot but the US still killed on a 10-1 ratio and never lost a battle in Vietnam. When Saigon fell, 1 million South Vietnamese were killed because they posed a threat... Communist bastards. The military did their job, it was public opinion that lost the US that war. America didn't want to spread any beliefs, it wanted to preserve democracy and freedom and stop communism from spreading. We failed, and Communism took laos and cambodia where, in cambodia, 1/3 people were killed by the regime.

      The fisrt thing is that when you bring your army to invade a peaceful and independent country, i do not think it's right. Second thing is that Vietnam not only had raw materials (rubber, coal ...) during the war, she also had a strategic position in Indochina penisula. Third thing is the idea of communism.

      Paranoia runs deep in America. America was trying to stop the march of comunism accross the globe. The reason it was considered wrong was because the sixtys was a time of peace and protests. Yes, in those days when people thought somthing was wrong they used to protest. Unfortunately protesting seems to be a thing of the past now.
