      The firepower helped tons. It's called numbers that won the war. The Vietcong lost over 300,000 people in the war, but they either lost the war and their homeland, or won. Losing people wasn't going to stop them from winning the war. We were only fighting communism, not to save our lives. Two completely different sides, fighting two different wars, on the same territory. And what about the French? Looks like they got involved too, who says anything about them? Damn commies, get your facts straight.

          All that fire power was mostly pretty ineffecient.
          Most of the battles were fought in the jungles and swamps where tanks and vehicles could not operate. The best and most useful piece of kit was the helicopter, which took on a huge role in the conflict. Before Vietnam, the helicopter was used in limited operations for example medivac, but in Vietnam the helicopter was the work-horse of the US army.
          So any way, all those technological achievements America brought into play, were pretty fuckin worthless and they still did got there arses well and truly kicked.
