    A few interesting facts about the police dogs. The police (in New Jersey at least), only use pure-bread German Sheppards. The first 6 months of training are done in Germany by a special group of German Police Dog Traniners. When they get to the U.S., they are furthert trained in the specific field they will be used (attack, drug, etc. etc.). Thought you guys might like to know this

    i own two dogs of this breed. theyre called Belgian Malinois. and are the best breed for all kinds of trainings. so powerfull, fast and smart. not smart to mess with theme as video shows ;) but they always wait for owners command. so, also good to handle. glory to theme. ;) by Maddoggy

    I'm just tired to read b******t about this video. First, this is a training, thoose guys almost live with THEIR dog. Second, for thoose who know better than the rest of the worl, this unit (GIGN) is consider as one of the best unit in the world, it's not me saying it (british SAS, German K9 and LA SWAT (with whom they use to have an exchange program)). Thoose dogs, when trained, are amazing to watch while in action, they even skydive attached to the guy. GIGN is one of the few units to use dogs in action (of course not aginst a machine gun you stupid). For a matter of fact, this unit, composed by a hundred gendarmes (cops), in 30 years, as done more than a 1000 ops, set free more than 600 hostages and arrested more than 750 criminals. 8 gendarmes were killed in action and 3 dogs as well. Just to talk about one case: 1994, south of France, 3 islamic terrorists hijacked an airbus to crash it on Paris, after long negociations, the group gets in. Result: all the hostages were set free, the 3 terrorists were killed and 11 gendarmes got injured. This remain the most amazing and succesfull hostage crisis end in all history.
    And guess what... they didn't use dogs... they have a really particular purpose and field of action.

  • Schutzhund is a wonderful thing...

    Unlike the movies, a dog in transit is extremely difficult to hit - very small front area, moving very fast, skull thicker than you'd suppose, perfectly willing to attach from directions that humans wouldn't). During training, the "target" has to wear protective clothing - for example, a typical bite sleeve is a rattan covering over a wire frame (and can cost upwards from $60US - and that isn't the only thing the target wears). Most people don't know that dogs have one of the strongest biting force of all animals - leg and arm bones just go "crunch". Usually, the target doesn't have the slightest clue what to do when attacked; furthermore, the things that he/she MIGHT do are likely incite the dog further (crouching down / fetal position is a VERY dangerous thing to do). The instance where the one dog was swung around so hard was actually quite rare and would be considered maltreatment, but apparently the dog's drive "just wouldn't let go". You might think that during "wrestling" that the bad guy has an easy target - he's far more likely to shoot himself. Going to Schutzhund training was some of the scariest crud I've ever watched.

      have been disturbed by machine guns? but yes there is limited use of the dogs as they are not immortal and loved very much by their owners.
      every situation is different and just the presence of a dog is sometimes effective.

    In this video there are some tactical faults.
    First you can't run behind a dog during a firefight. Maybe the foe get caught by the dog, but while the dog is running the criminal is still shooting! You can't release a dog and then run following him. If the dog miss or is shot down, you are without cover under fire. But they are our cousin the french...

  • Poorly trained dogs....

    One dog bites the handler and all of them have to be pulled off of the "suspects." Instead they should release the suspect upon verbal command and be completely obedient and under control at all times. However, with that being said they do control the suspects well and know who to attack when neccessary.
