This is a video showing the deployment of the GBU-48/B Bomb also known and MOAB. Massive Ordinance Air Burst. meaning the 21k lbs of high explosives will detonate above ground level which actually causes the most damage vice ground detonation. This bomb is capable of flatening 150 yds or the equivilant of 6 superbowl sized stadiums. It is the largest NON Nuclear device in USAF inventory and serves as a psycological weapon. When used it caused the iraqi army to surrender. Durring the testing at a bomb range in Florida the shock wave was felt as far as 35 miles from the range rattling windows

    The day this was dropped, I was about 30 miles away and it shook the center I work at and had no problem hearing it. There was nothing left alive in the blast area. Enough said I think. Yep, pretty much says it all.

      No offence intended, but i think you might be hard to please. The film footage for this test was from 5 miles away if that makes it any more impressive. Sadly though, the USAF still hasn't had an opportunity to use the damn thing yet. Was a mighty fine scare tactic to say we would use it though!

    First, I'll request that you stop with the childish name calling, as it shows your I.Q. level in a negative way. It would have been way better for you to have asked where I obtained my information from.
    Second, here is a brief history about me.... I spent 10 years in the U S Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman, I know my weapons and what they can and cant do. Atleast what the U S navy allowed me to know.
    Third, You obviously missed the episode of "Future Weapons" which is broad casted on either TLC or Discovery Channel, At the moment I do not recall which one. The person that narates that show is a former U S Navy Seal, which I believe is true considering he advertises that on a national / global telivision show, IF that claim was false I can promise you that he would be rapidly discovered as a wanna be by actual True former Seals. They do not like fakes. Anyways, I am getting side tract.... The narator or the specifically stated that the weapon in question here was indeed used as a psycological weapon to get the former Iraqi military to surrender. Weather or not you believe that , quite franklly I do not give a damn.
    Fourth, If you want to have a respectable conversation then kindly cease with the durogatory name calling comments when you send me replies. Otherwise you can quite plainly STFU.

    U R an Idiot. The true MOAB or "Mother Of All Bombs" as we call it has never been used in combat and would have only been used in Iraq if Sadam used Chem weapons on us.

      Just because a weapon is used psycologically doesnt mean it was ever detonated in enemy territory. Just the enemy knowing we have the weapon and seeing the results of our own tests is enough to psycologically effect them. (as in, scare them into surrender). Sort of like a cop pointing a gun at someone armed with a knife and ordering them to put it down, they know they're done if the trigger is pulled, so they drop the knife. That is... unless they're on drugs, or insane.

The narator on that show whom is a former U.S. Navy Seal ,which I believe he is telling the truth as after having been on National / global television, he would very rapidly be called out as a fake wanna be. Specifically stated that MOAB was indeed used as a psycological weapon in iraq.... Weather or not you believe that I really do not care.
