Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The area boasts rare and endangered species, such as the American crocodile, Florida panther, and West Indian manatee. It has been designated an International Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site, and a Wetland of International Importance, in recognition of its significance to all the people of the world. Everglades National Park is open 365 days a year. The park is located on the southern tip of Florida, and is accessible from different areas. The Main Park entrance (Homestead/Florida City) is open 24 hours a day, the Chekika entrance, follow sign off Krome Ave. in the Redlands (currently closed) is dawn to dusk and the Shark Valley entrance off of Tamiami Trail / US 41, is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Park waters are open 24 hours a day.
