Cool jeep climb in iceland. This is a cool race.
Did I say that right? Icelanders? Or is it Icelandish? Icelandees? Icers? =)
By Diablo 1148939983This particular driver is Norwegian, but there is a tournament in this sport (formula off-road) every summer in Iceland (and probably elsewhere).
By Mister Luxemburgo 1148984311Since when did ÃÂrni Jóhannesson become Norwegian? At least pretend to be intelligent?
Besides - "there is a tournament in this sport every summer in Iceland"??? This sport is invented in Iceland man - in this particular case the turnament was held in Finland.
c",) Norwegian my ass...
For those of you wondering what happens to the driver at the top... nothing, the top is simply a flat ground, the challenge is getting up the cliff, which can oh so very close to being completely vertical. The tumbling and car going kaboom happens usually when he's driving the last 20% of the cliff, but again, at the top, nothing happens, the goal is to make it up, but not down on the other side, as there's usually no cliff on the other side ;p...
One more note, give arab countries a chance ;p... the UAE is a great country, I've had american and british friends that were very sceptic of comming here when I invited them over, but they were all amazed when they came ;). Dunn be narrow-minded ! the UAE rocks yer bottom ;p...
UAE has great offroading aswell, but in the 3 years of offroading experiance I haven't come across a buggy like we've got in iceland as of yet ;p...
But yeah, I own a KTM 540 SXC and I go offroading every weekend, It's great, and for those of you who have driven a lot in snow, the sand isn't all that much different, for a bike, or a 4x4, but there are a few vital differences...
But in overall, Iceland = 90% nature and emptyness, the UAE is the same, but I find it slightly easier to get lost in the desert as there are hardly any landmarks to remember to find yer way home ;p...
the UAE doesn't offer only desert tho, if you go up towards Hatta or Oman, you get rocky/cliffy areas which are great for people who like more challenges, the sand is awesome tho, ranging from super soft to really hard, I found this fairly large area of unknown origins, the sand is compeltely black and there appears to be salt mixed with it, when you drive on it, you sink about 2cm/1 inch max, mostly not even 1/4 of that. It was one of my most enjoyable rides for playing so far.
Hi there. I am drivin this machine and can confirm that I am from Norway, but the race is in Finland.
To see some more, check our website: www.lightfoot.no
Thanks for watching........
Am from iceland btw, so I thought I'd correct a few things ;p...
Icelandic people are reffered to as Icelandic... =D, but I guess Icelanders is fine aswell ;p, the reason why we call these custom offroad vehicles "jeeps" is because a few countries just reffer to all offroad vehicles as "jeeps", and doesn't neccesary mean that they are made by Jeep, I know americans call most offroad vehicles SUVs or Buggies in this case, but they are also known as 4x4s or simply Offroad vehicles...
Also, not that I know much about the location you can see the massive trees in the background towards the end of the movie, Icelands tallest tree is like 5 meters high, well, not really that small, but we don't have high trees =).
This sport was invented in Iceland but has migrated to many other countries. The correct icelandic name for this sport would be simply "offroading", unless the name has been changed recently ;p, I haven't been to Iceland in over 12 years.
To my knowledge, I don't think the vikings ever settled in Greenland, it's mostly just locals that live there.
But yeah it's true that Iceland was discovered by norwegean criminals and outcasts from Norway and settled there.
Iceland was a crap country until after the 2nd world war, the americans brought over lots of technology and other important things with them during their war in europe, we also became independant in 1944. But a lot has changed since.
The typical icelandic person today always has to own the newests things, even if they can't afford it, Iceland is a crazy place and I really don't like to live there after I've been to numerous other countries the past 12 years =p...
It's a pretty good place to go and visit tho, can't say anything against that ;).
written too much, cba with more... gg !
EXACTLY! Good posting...... but why the %$#! shut it down just as it looks like more is about to happen. Not hoping that he gets hurt if he rolled backwards and crashed, but %^%$# HATE it when they do not show the ending!!!!!!!
By N.I.4.N.I 1148885175he couldnt quite make it over the bump, he rolled back as his little helper (i forget the name) came to smoothen out that bump, u can see him running
By Sexy_bitch123 1148899347How would you liked to have been this guys "passenger"?
By Wudluv2 1148880722I live in the UAE and do something like that every weekend! Great fun!
By TheRealSuperman 1148873640UAE, must be such a cool country to visit. i will come one day and rent a jeep, do u find such tires there??? must be good for sand dune or not?????
By vrmm 1148915713UAE has more than a jeep and than tires and all that stuff you will understand when you visit UAE. i belive if you want to check out the desert of the UAE you shouldnt go to safaries who are made buy dumb tourists ...you should go with a UAE family , they know how to really make you love those wonderful sights of nature of the UAE. thats what we did to my aunts english friend.her kids hated us they thought we were like bin ladin!! but when they came they loved it and thier mom promised to bring themm every once and a while.
By hashmanian 1148922566Why did nt we get to see if he got to the top? He was starting to roll backwards, did he fall or get Up? STOP EDITING THE END OF THE CLIPS OFF. IT IS SO FUCKIN ANOYING.
By Tapeworm 1159565724That clip is cut from my dvd (Formula Offroad Kangasala Finland 2005).
He turn to the left and driving off, so nothing more was't happend.
...are actually built from scratch in somebody's garage. We take (possibly) a frame, or build a new one, bolt an engine plus transmission to it and then improvise.
Very unique, and veeeery effective.
in german the word for it is 'geil', in greek the word for it is 'kavla'! i don't know if there's a word for it in english. btw... the one that made the 'mentally unsound' comment can go and shove a highway post up her (and i do suppose it's woman) uknowwhat!
peace!
was about to say the exact same thing, a jeeps a jeep. they're deffinitely buggies, custom jobs. oh and i want one.
By BJHilly 1150000982Q: Do you know what they call a "jeep" (SUV) that's not a Jeep?
A: Jiip (Japanese imitation in plastic)
hah hah thats a good one, yeah i have a nissan patrol, she goes pretty hard, has a few knocks and bumps
By BJHilly 1150104602My father have a Jeep Cheroke (not the kind that's acctually called Liberty). I want a Jeep Wrangler.
By Kapten-N 1150052583This clip is from Norway, not Iceland. The speaker is talking norwegian and icelandic is quite different.
By unsharp 1149116973I can't hear the speaker but it says "NOR" after the name in the start of the clip. That could mean "Norway".
By Kapten-N 1149969948At the end you can see tex: edited by jarno valkonen, that is a finnish name.
By ari_from_finland 1149094062that aint nothing. you just wait until you see my mini van out there.. then we will see whos better!
wait till they get a taste of my ford station wagon...
By alacran6 1149060227I just had to watch that twice. Nice combination of nerve and skill.
By Minerva 1149021368A lot of them use 600 hp smallblock Chevy motors with another 200 hp of nitrous on tap to get over the especially tricky bits. The motors in those jeeps cost more than most luxury cars.
By CaptainXanax 1148983623why cut video short? What happened did he make it or tumble back down the hill?
By Are you kidding 1148982130I live in the UAE and we got some monster dunes here. It would be a lot of fun to do this here!
Much love South Africa!
