I was filming a thunderstorm when suddenly lightning hit my hand. I lost my hand and my camera but I survived. I only saved the tape. Caution: Don't film a thunderstorm!

Hit By Lightning Caught on Tape

  • How dumb do you think we are?

You seriously expect anyone to believe that a lightning strike could destroy your hand and the camera it was holding, yet leave the tape inside the camera completely untouched? Also, lightning is a circuit between the sky and the ground, so it couldn't strike only your hand.

    • Actually

Sergei has a point there. It would be a miracle that you are still alive, but it would be even a greater miracle that the tape is safe.
I believe in miracles so I'll give you five ... stars.

Not really anything special to survive that. It's actually rarer to die from lightning than to survive it. In fact, many people don't even have a lost limb. It is odd that the tape survived, I'll say that much. but because it hit his hand that he said was resting on a rail, the hand would have been badly burnt and the current would run out of his hand through the metal rail, rather than through anything else, thus the lack of a second exit wound(usually it will destroy the top of the head and the feet; where it enters and exits the body).

    • So narrow minded

Do you suppose that maybe he dropped the camera when he got hit? Maybe the lightining shorted out the circuit boards or power supply in the camera.

The point is that you don't freakin' know. What, is your life so pathetic that you have to try to diminish others?

    • No, just informed.

A lightning bolt is twice as hot as the surface of the sun. It is also waaaaaaaaaay too fast for him to drop the camera, and in any case, he's already said that the camera was destroyed. Also, anything that could short out the circuit boards would also wipe the magnetic film. There's also the fact that, even in the doctored film, the lightning bolt is depicted as passing in front of the camera, rather than striking either it or that hand it's in. This video is not even plausible.

  • Tell u what

If you post a video with urself and that hand ill belive u:P But it seems odd that only ur hand would get burnt even if u were resting it on the rail, the current would still go through ur whole body.

  • hmmm

honestly i dont believe that happened, wouldnt it fry the camcorder and the tape instantly, how did they recover the footage. i think thats totally fake, he just took a picture of a real victim who got zapped. more then a million volts hit him... if thats what it did to his arm, ur telling me the thin film in the tape was ok, yeah right

100% percent real the injury on his hand is 1005 real ant tha ligthing real so this is a real miracle

  • I dont think so

you would be dead if you get strike by that kind of strong lightning, and you will not save your tape also, everything will burn into ashes include you. Those survivors are strike by spark size of lightning.

the lighting hit u and which part of ur body did it discharge from?? unless it's stuck in you'which is impossible' it would have discharge somewhere. and that part would have been burnt to, so would the part where the lighting flowed.. learn ur science first.. unless you're telling me the tip of the lighting hit you..

really? this is serious, thought thunder affects metals

By olakay 1214308480 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Thunder?

Thunder occurrs when the lightning vaporizes the air. When the surrounding air collapses to fill the void, we get thunder.
How can any metal be affected by the sound of thunder?

By Burble 1214348012 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
    • Uhh...

Thunder does not physically affect anyone. It is just the noise that the static friction creates when a bolt of lightning is released. Thunder affects anything it touches other than rubber. If this man hadn't worn shoes, the lightning could have traveled through his entire body and killed him. That is what is known as grounded. Lightning will find any means possible to reach the ground, it will use anything touching the ground that isn't protected by rubber. This is why your car is the safest place for you in a lightning storm.

    • LOL

"thunder doesn't affect anyone"... and then....
"thunder affects anything other than rubber"...
LOL, he got you sayin it too ;)

Thunder is actually thought to be the collapsing of a small vacuum that is created by lightning as it passes from the ground to the sky (yes.. lightning goes UP), and rubber isn't the only material that will insulate lightning, it's just the only commonly used one.

  • Lightning

should have killed you if it really were. So im not that dumb to believe it unless the hand shows your face too. And that is not what a lightning burn is. And for electronic gadgets strucked by lightning? If the elements inside it got burned, how much more of the tape? No way you can make me believe.
