Yes, Americans are stupid, up to a point, and so are everybody else. The difference is that Americans export their stupidity via TV. For instance Jay Leno's "jaywalking" and Jackass. I wonder how many people who were asked by this Australian got the questions right. I bet there were some.

I was going to mention Jay Leno in a different post, and decided not to, purely because I don't know for a fact that the internation community would know who he is, and I didn't need to go on making assumptions.

But, now that it's out there,
Leno routinely (about once a month or so) goes out, finds random people to ask seemingly easy questions. Sometimes they're right on, sometimes they're way off--and it's usually very funny.

But Leno doesn't stop there! I've seen him ask foreign tourists of New York City easy questions as well! And you know what heppens? THE EXACT SAME THING AS WITH AMERICAN RESPONSES!!! Some get it exactly right, and some get it very, very wrong. And you know what? It's still funny, because it's supposed to be funny.

Towards the end of my comments, with the 'arrogance' wording, it was only for illustration, not necessarily to take a cheap shot at anybody. I probably could have tailored my wording to better fit the international community, but that does not detract at all from my point.

There is no lead in our paint since both of our governments encouraged home builders and paint companies not to use lead based paint in the 80s and it was over by 1992. Lead based paint cannot be found here in canada anymore unless you have an old home. The U.S also produces Asbestos for your information. I'm not sure where you got your results for the drug testing on Canadians but it's a fact that the Canadian Food and Drug Inspection Agency has slightly more strict rules than the American FDA. Your government covers up far more cases in mad cow disease, prescription drugs side effects, food poisoning, and egg infections. When it comes to food and drugs inspection I'd say our government is a far more transparent or their just not as good at covering things up. Your media is also held under a leash moreso than ours. At least during press conferences our media doesn't have to be hand picked by the government for who can ask questions... although that may change soon with our new prime minister. It's true biker gangs are situated in little towns where there is little police control but the headquarters of our biker gangs are located in the U.S... Hell's Angels. The guns from Canada were American in the first place by the way and 75% of firearms in Canada are smuggled illegally from the U.S. 'surmarine' never said that Canadians have more of a voice to control their government than Americans do or that corporate control over government is any different here. All he/she was saying is that a Canadian show also made a skit like this but unlike this one where they solely ask average people and filter out the smart and correct responses, the Canadian one does that but they also ask American politicians who should know better. That town rocks! When they were playing the Red Wings first round people had tables set up on the sidewalks and the whole downtown was one huge tailgate party, what a great scene. Apparantly you haven't been to Quebec if you think people in Ontario are fast. The speed limit in Quebec is set at 'insane' especially their truck drivers. I think overall we drive fast because we don't really have highway patrol like you guys do. We've got provincial police who patrol the highways but they're often occupied policing little towns who don't have their own police force... so that means we get to go faster and rarely get tickets. When I went to the U.S last summer I got 3 tickets on the highway... I was only 20Km/h over the limit (that's how fast we go here)!!! But I actually like how you guys have a good highway patrol since it makes for good enforcement of the law. If they gave more tickets here we'd be driving like you guys. I rarely saw anyone go over 7 MPH over the speed limit in the U.S when I was driving.

the reason that we have such shorter school years is that in the early 1900s most of america was still rural, not urban, and kids had to help their families on their farms, or whatever, just to survive. and education in the big cities was just as non-existant in rural areas except for the well-to-do. so for some reason, this practice was kept. i don't know why. americas are just traditionalists there are some schools, that have tried going year-round. i have always heard that kids that went to these schools were better students, on average went to better colleges, etc. so of course most of americans don't know these things, but that is because are school systems are in shambles. probably intentionally by the govt. although you have more poor people to take care of on wel-fare, you also have more dumb people who don't care about the rest of the world, and will accept everything the govt says. so although not all americans are this stupid, there is a large percentage that are. almost every member of my family could answer these questions, but almost every member of my family has a college education. except for like my grandmother and some aunts and uncles. most people who they interviewed on here probably have never been to college. they just picked a bunch of people who looked dumb and average. as for the beginning segment, about the football team inside, it is a very common practice for high school teams to practice on the basketball court, when it is raining outside, we did it on several occasions.

First of all, the sheer size of the United States is huge! There really is A LOT going on within the borders themselves! Quite frankly, as an American, I would like to know FIRST what is happening within my own country, and the rest of the world SECOND.

Secondly...Why does the rest of the world wish to force the US to know more about it? Seems a little selfish, when you think about it. I don't really follow the logic: Because we're American's, we're supposed to know about *all* the ills of other societies? ...to know everything about every other nation? ...race? American schools are perhaps not the best in the world, but we try pretty damned hard to achieve a well-balanced education.

We don't trade with Al-Qaeda, so they weren't economically significant to the US. Al-Qaeda isn't a recognized country, so leadership demands were insignificant. Al-Qaeda wasn't located anywhere near the US, so physical proximity wasn't significant.

I'll say it again. The US is not an Islamic nation, and neither are a vast majority of the countries of the world.

Since technology has allowed, the United States has always kept up with the entire world as best we can. There is only so much time that can be devoted to learning about other cultures. Not only that, but the United States has also had a policy of non- interference with other cultures. (Except when universal rights are being violated.) The religion of Islam is very deep, very pure, and very benevolent, so the United States never needed to directly interfere with the culture itself. Islamic government is different, as trade agreements, peace, and other negotiations happen through the governments themselves, and not through the culture.

I will make one thing clear: I have not said that there was absolutely zero warning of what happened. Al-Qaeda's bombing of the WTC on February 26th, 1993 was warning that a terrorist group existed that disagreed with the United States. There was no way of knowing, however, that this group would grow to taking down two towers, a section of the Pentagon, and an additional plane, killing thousands of, and I'll say it again, INNOCENT people.

To be fair, that was a British tactic: Kidnap an enemy and make him work for you. We do not have the largest army in the world either. We are practically dwarfed by China's soldier population. The difference is being able to apply our capital infrastructure into efficiency. Our army *is* the most efficient in the world.

What's wrong with making money in the first place, and do you believe that being an American politician is something special? EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN has the ability to hold public office because of our democratic system. Our country was built on capitalist ideas, and it's only natural for it's politicians to be focused on that.
