By 5 iiid syeklopz 1214709813 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethey shoul'd put a scarecrow on each wing
By cougar69 1214975270 Reply Spam [+2] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHitting a bird at 300+ mph would only shove a screen into the bypass fan which would definately cause a crash, the bypass and compressor blades are designed with a slight looseness to allow for impacts and vibrations. Most bird strikes on modern planes cause no significant damage. They test for this up to the ludicris level on new engines.
By jules winfield 1214864217 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethey throw birds inside?...j/k
By KevinAccord 1247287788 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYes, they do throw birds at engines. I have seen a TV program where they fired frozen chickens into the engines with compressed air to test for bird strike resistance.
By mrmoley 1250344335 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeon take-off. He may have been up to 220 or so, but not 300.
By Sharon Bone 1215122278 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI'm an ex-pilot and a plane of that type would be doing about 180 on take off.
By mrmoley 1250345079 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removemost planes cruise @ 300-400mph... (commercial planes that is)
By KevinAccord 1247287875 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt was about to take off. It was going at a very low speed.
By KLBSR 1247969717 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebut dont you think they wud need a lotta speed to take off?
surely it wasnt 300 but it wud need a lot of speed to get airborne.
I've seen this video on tv and the 1st engine got a problem but the plane just returned to the land after a second and no one gets hurt except for the bird... obviously..
By ashakagi 1214581694 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei guess the wanted to be cooked

By cut67 1214748440 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removepls someone shuld tel me where d 'may day' audio's comin from?
By zie85er 1214687629 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe pilot is calling mayday (comes from the French M'Aidez - Help me) alarms would be going off in the cockpit after the bird went through the engine. The bird probably broke a turbine blade and this would cause the engine to vibrate setting off the alarms.
By mrmoley 1250344682 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWould that put any of the passengers in danger of crashing?
Most jets are so over-powered that one engine is enough for most functions. Pilots are trained for failures such as this, and Air Traffic Control has routines in place to clear approaching and departing aircraft which gives priority to the troubled aircraft. That pilot would have access to ANY runway, which means that if they were losing altitude too quickly for a normal approach they could choose whatever runway was closest.
By Funkninja 1214566952 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt was added in. The smoke was not black, so it wasn't an engine fire.
By Belphog 1248150782 Reply Spam [-1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt wasn't an engine fire - it was a bird strike - different. What colour smoke does kerosene make when it burns?
By mrmoley 1250344901 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeit is posible to happen but usaly the angien dosent take fier. and if you lock on it again you wil se that the take of is to purfekt to hew a angin burning. and dont say that is real becos flights can fly whit only one angine. yes they can fly but not take off i belive. and a burning angine is quite harder to handel than a engin who is yust turnd off
