  • Beauty with Brains!

For the benifit of all viewers here, the buildings are NOT being moved by power, so to speak. Instead, the rotation is caused by the wind, which incidently also generates a significant amounts of electricity (much like a windmill)!
    Beauty with Brains, eh?

    • you people don't know

what you're talking about...one...no..the floors will not move because wind is blowing them around...they WILL be powered by electricity and it will be choreographed (except for a few floors which the resident will be able to control)...it will NOT be wasting electricity, the wind will power the whole building so it'll be self sufficient..so no, the building is not wasting money or electricity..it's simply utilizing the electricity and money that the structure creates for itself

  • The point is...

From a real estate perspective the point is VALUE or at least perceived value, with a rotating building comes a rotating view, views are of course one of the highest valued premiums in real estate.

  • nice concept

what if the power goes out will the building be stuck in that position. Also shouldn't we save our energy instead of wasting it on a moving building. Don't get me wrong it looks cool and all, would be a sight to see, but it just not make any sense to make a building move and it would be wasting electricity. Then if it is a big hit you will have more and more buildings being made which will take more electricty, and might cause brownouts quicker.

    • it's not wasting electricity..

it generates it's own electricity..so it's using NONE of the rest of the world's...it's just powering itself

    • Hey

read the comment from 'thebluestone' it creates its own power via the wind, wind generators installed between each appartment provide power for the structure. so no outside energy source is needed essentially, that is only if dubai has a wind free day.??

    • blah

the power will never go out....although us ppl down on the surface of the earth might feel some days without wind, there's always wind that never stops a thousand or two thousand feet up

    • dropped what?

Dubai in my opinion is the leader in new and innovative structures, do you not think that with all the billions they spend on building these mega structures that they would not have the best engineers and architects available to them, their saftey standards are through the roof man!!

The building's floors all move independently of each other, each turning a slow turbine. This allows the building to supply all of its own energy. And, yes, I want to shoot an Arab each time I fill my pickup...but somehow I must understand that this is the wave of the future. "The amount of money is constant...it simply changes pockets." If they are doing just a bit of human progress with my hard-earned monies, well, perhaps I can agree just a bit.
