The effectiveness of a martial art is not always related to effectiveness of soldiers in its country of origin.
Kung Fu and Tai Ji are effective, but that did not help to reduce Chinese casualties during the Korean War.
What really sustained them was devotion to their cause and support from the locals.

So the effectiveness of Russian martial arts cannot be judged according to Russia's military success rate.
Especially since during the Communist Era, only a handful of Russians embraced their traditional martial arts.

It is reality and you are just don't wanna believe it. It is special forces it's not regular soldiers. They have to work quiet and clean. It's not American Comandos or something else. It is special forces of KGB. Try to find on internet RUSSIAN SYSTEMA or Russian Martial Arts and you will understand. It's not a JuDo or Karate of freaking Kung Fu - It's real self defense, it's ability to fight against 5, 6, etc. people.

Ok, something stinks here. Why is he speaking Russian around camo troops who are (supposedly) American? Who is that idiot Latino who (pretends?) to suffer an invisible strike from the dude? If I were there, here is how I would do it: Pull out the LA phonebook and ask someone to flip a dice 9 times and call the # of the the resulting total # bar in the yellow pages. Tell the bouncer at such bar what is going on and why you are calling. I guarantee, bouncers are of such a nature that NONE would turn the challenge down. If the Russian turns out to be for real, then holy shit, this guy is a master, I humble myself before him and request his teaching! Otherwise tell these stinking Russians to go home to their outhouse holes in Siberia.

There are a number of different styles of Russian Martial Arts, from Slavyano Gretska Y Borba (SGB) to Skobar to Lubki to Buza to Kadchinilov sys (K-sys) etc. etc. Based on the style of work, I would guess this is Kadochnikov systema. Someone mentioned slow sparring, I would like to point out that these different styles of RMA differ most strongly in terms of training methodology. Some like SGB have little concept of defence and just go full bore in bursts - the defence is the offense. Others like k-sys are more cerebral. Systema, the style popularized by Vladimir Vasiliev in the West, covers a wide spectrum of training methods and intensities and is to me more intuitive.

The concept of no-touch work also seems to be common in these disciplines, however again the approach and explanation vary depending on who you ask. I saw a video with the head of SGB stamping the earth and people falling over yards away. VV also does no-touch on occassion, but there is always an interaction and the other guy is usually looking at him to perceive some presented stimuli. When the 'US' guy turned his back or the other felt his neck, I couldn't see what the demonstrator was doing. However, I am sure that if I pointed a gun at you that you knew was loaded, you would usually feel the urge to move. If I pretended to yawn convincingly, chances are you would feel the need to yawn. If you lunged at me and I moved just before you connected and it was too late for you to adjust, you might fall down for no apparent reason to the outsider. IOW psychological manipulation ad timing can affect physical performance, sometimes in a profound way. FWIW I've never seen Vlad quite replicate standing out of sight (I'm assuming from the video) from a big distance and somehow pulling the guy down, or the itchy neck thing. Sounds like a Rich Mooney thing. But, not knowing Russian, I do not know what they are saying, and so can only guess at what is being proposed.

they train 1 or tow years in martial arts and a martial artist train a hole life! they canot do shit in close combat and i know it well because i live in a harbor! This in not mortal combat! The fact alone that people always compare their special forces troops against American Marines and American special forces is proof of their insecurity about the quality of their own troops. Why bother defending American forces to somebody who already thinks of American SF as the benchmark of SF quality? Personally I respect British, American and Aussie SF, as well as special police forces like SWAT and the German GSG-9.

There is a martial art form called Ti Chi (once again i know its mispelled). This has been very effective for hundreds of years, so i would call it BS. Ti Chi invloves lots of meditation with the fighting and the sheer force of someone releasing there harvested energy from the Ti Chi practice is enough to knock you over. Also, The reason why they are using the guns as clubs is to simulate what would happen in a melee fight, not a gun fight, (obviously you shoot if u have bullets and your gun isnt jammed).

that's only basics of what elite russian specnaz can do!

It's true, you can find classes probably in your area for Russian Martial Arts called Sistema, or systema, i don't know how to spell it... but ya, if you see one of them it looks soooo fake, but when you have them do it to you in person you will believe then.

If your wondering why you would use a gun as a blunt object against someone heres a few answers:
1.) Your out of ammo or not completly sure if you have any left in your gun.
2.) Getting that close to someone and shooting them is messy
3.) Being that close lets you think "Does an alive person have more intel then a dead person?" then proced to knock them out.

Close combat techniques like this work great in controlled environments. All his subjects were doing very slow and exagurated movments and they were not just random people (similar to a Criss Angel schpeal). These are not real world practices cause they dont work in combat zones or when adrenaline is pumped up. But they do make great demonstrations of the effects of human energy from one to another. If it really worked as well as he demonstrated, everyone would already be doing it. What he was demonstrating was not a new idea, eastern martial arts have been doing that for centuries.

there's more to life than what you see or touch. These non-contact techniques are expressed in many martial styles. I've experienced it. It's not bullshit. Does this guy look like he wants to rule the UFC? I love breaking this to you but the UFC is bullshit.( if you think those are the toughest guys in the world) The techniques I practice aren't allowed in the UFC.

You can see it, the guy comes at him, in slow mo, and just starts reeling back once the "instructor" grabs the gun, as if he's been hit or knocked over. Hell, he's not even being tripped, or touched in any way. I know that the spetznaz are good fighters, they are SF, all SF soldiers in all countries are good fighters, thats their training. (excluding green berets, 1/2 fighters, 1/2 rebellion leaders :D)

There is a Specnaz training facility close to Moskau were there are many levels of combat discipline. Thier techniques are effective at neutralizing enemy combatants from many foreign nations. With allied integration into the Russian Federation, the Specnaz black-opps are more efficient then during the previouse governing system.

I am a United States Marine Officer. None of the men in this video are Marines. Not one of the men in this video are wearing any form of a United States service uniform. Whoever wrote the description for the movie is an idiot. The Marines have their own martial arts and it has nothing to do with this goofy crap. The men that were used as demostrators attacking the "specnaz officer" (this probably is wrong too, but I don't know for sure) obviously is not actually trying to do harm, but rather to allow the other man to show defensive fighting skills.
