Televangelist Pat Robertson (who tried unsuccesfully to be the Republican Parrt nominee for president in 1988) showing us he can press 2000 lbs. (910 kg) with his legs - he's 70. I'm not so sure I believe that. Do you?

  • Cheating like crazy

That first of all was a total of 12 45lb plates and 4 100lb plates. That only equals 940lbs and the machine probably adds another 45lbs making the totaly 985lbs. Second of all, he's not going anywhere closed to all the way down. And last, he's pushing off with his hands too. It would be more impressive if he was actually doing a full rep without his hands. Nice try Pat, but once again you look like and idiot.

  • hes 70

Even if you blame the video poster for saying 2000 pounds when he even says he only goes to 1000. thats still a 1000 pounds. Age aside thats 1000 pounds. Go to your local gym and see what you can do (full reps or not). Then in 50 some odd years belly your old ass to the bar and see if you can even lift the damn weights to load the damn machine. I dont like the guy personally but damn, way to go Pat.

  • it's all fake...

look at the different thicknesses of the weights and at 2:22 in the film you can clearly see the one prior to the 45lb one they put on is on a 10lb... he's a fake just like every other congressmen...

  • If you listen to what he says

He doesn't actually say he is lifting 2000lbs, the video is just labelled wrong. So he's not lying, even though his technique may be bad. I guess he's doing all right for a 74 year old though.

  • Under the best

circumstances, there's no F**king way that machine would even support 2000 pounds. F**k you Christ-y liar!

  • doesnt count

doesnt count if your knees dont touch your chest.... what a loser.

  • i'm pretty sure

that that was only 1000lbs? where does 2000lbs come in, and where does nobody correcting that video come in?

By Snaggles 1150860216 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • well...

that is pretty good for a 74 year old but...

its no that hard. first off, the incline is ate 45 degrees so that cuts the load on your legs substancially. he is really only doing about half that weight.

second, the movement in his legs is minimal. they bend all of about 15 degrees at max weight.

last... i can do this and im as big as most middle schoolers...

  • Hmmmm

Now i've been working out for quite a while and im positive that NO ONE could lift 2000 pounds with their legs positioned the way his are. You must separate your knees slightly in order to first of all bring it down properly and also to use the most of your momentum as possible. It would be wasy too difficult to do it " the way he is " .

  • 2000 pounds of BS!!

I personally do 360 pounds plus the weight of the machine and I let the weight come all the way without bouncing at all and that's freakin' heavy. Anyone who is in fairly good shape can do what he did. Ronnie Coleman or Tom Platz are impressive, not this self righteous freak.

  • Not too bad for his age

He's cheating by using his hands and not actually doing the full movement but still, that's still a lot of weight to push up.

  • Pat Robertson Math...

"You see the bar weighs 45 lbs and those weights there are 40 lbs each and that gives you like 135 lbs"

45 40 40=125? Now I know I dont have 123 fingers but.... If Pats calculations are correct, I need to get back to grade school. :p

  • eee .. what ?

What I am sure is that it weren't 2000 Lbs not even a thousand. And in this position I think tou could lift quite much with your legs

By ghistes 1149279439 Reply Spam Moderate Up Moderate Down
  • I do leg presses...

and its a killer if you do the full motion. Pat here is only pushing a quarter of the way and not only that he is also using his hands to push. Aside from cheating everyone else what he is really doing is cheating him self while doing this workout.

    • he didnt even do it right

i would be impressed if that guy did it the real way and went down to his chest and pumped it back up but for bein 70 and still being able to lift that just a little bit 10 times is still good..

  • This guy could have been a good US presi...

He is already a big liar!
Everybody can weight up more than 2 time his weight with this machine (don't forget that your legs support your weight and when you jump they are supposed to absorb our weight!)
Still this guy is far from 1000 lbs ^^
