The cat HAS water and food, but it looks as if the food is from the night before. I have three cats, all rescues. Despite their meager beginnings (would have been feral if not for for me adopting them), they've learned to be picky about their food. I have mine on just dry, but if it's more than a few hours old, they'll meow as if they're starving, when all they want is 'fresher' food. Believe me, that kitten does NOT look starved or dehydrated. Its too thick-waisted and its fur too fluffy to indicate being underfed. I think it's just spoiled rotten, the way kitties should be! :0)

I forgot to add that I think this is just an adorable kitty! What a communicative little guy! Mine are, too, although they haven't learned to beg like that. :0) They have other talents, such as pushing doors open that are slightly ajar, 'telling' me they want to go outside by meowing and running to the door (over and over again, if they have to!), or getting my attention and then running to their food dish to tell me they're hungry. And they recognize a few words, too, such at 'outside', 'no', 'hungry', and a few others. Cats aren't as dumb as people have tried to make them. They're just too smart to fall for the sit, heel, roll-over cues. Far too sophisticated for that stuff! LOL

With enough effort, you can train a cat to do tricks, too. They're just more stubborn and less apt to aim to please.

By good manners, you mean your pets are less apt to vocalize wants and needs? You know it actually helps if your dog is willing to bark or nudge you to let you know he has to go to the bathroom. Same thing if your cat can't get to the litter box and has to go (like if you close the door to a room). And what if your pet is hungry? Did you teach them that if they ask for food they get a beating? You sound unpleasent.

Its just training. Most people don't realize that they are causing these behaviors, even if inadvertantly. This guy taught this cat to beg by responding with food or someting when he saw the behavior. Yours doesn't do it because your cat doesn't get the same results. Simple.

The cat is not begging for water as many comments have stated. If you look there is a automatic watering dish filled with fresh water and there is also a full bowl of food. This kitten just thinks it`s a princess and should have better food.
