    yes we didn't have behavour that bad because it was nipped in the bud before things got to this stage. Kids got the cane at school and girls got the strap on the hand what is wrong with that. Kids knew the boundaries and sure there will always be the ones to push you to the limit but at the end of the day most kids like to know their boundaries. Depriving them of toys and bikes and days off the tv and dvd aren't the answer either you need to find what works with each child as they are all different. The respect is now gone so watch the next generation what will it come to. Bring back compulsory military training and don't hand out the dole unless they can work for it in some way. There are of course the exceptions.

    Funny ad, but would really feel for the parents if this was really happening. Have four kids of my own and only one acted like this. Quick smack on the bum, told NO and walked away and this did the trick. Kids are well adjusted individuals now, the law has over reacted in latter years and parents find themselves disempowered and the kids have all the rights these days.

      I fully agree with you! When I was raised I had respect for my parents - that and some fear of being spanked -- today the children don't have respect at all for their parents... Heck if you raise a hand to smack their butt they are quick to say that it's not allowed and that they will call the police... I am lucky with my children but I have friends that are having a really hard time...

      It's not always true. I'm 15 and I usually do what my parents tell me to do! Ok, my grades aren't the best, but I would never smoke or do semthing like that, so we could say that my parents are lucky to have 2 girls like us (I meen my sister and I), and still my parents hurt me, a lot of time, I do cry a lot because of them, and I think that they should be happy that we obey them...
      And I wasn't talking about some smacks on the bottom, I nearly fell thru a glass widow just because I wanted to shower 5 minutes later cuz' I was tired

      And sorry for the grammar, I'm Hungarian! :)

With this i meen violence, drugs and alkohol. Violence: they've been tought that it's ok to use violence course their mum and dad did it. Drugs and alkohol: they try to drown their sorrows course they are re minded of them every day they come home.

      difference between discipline and beating! I got spanked a couple of times as a kid and haven't killed anyone. In fact, now that parents and schools can't spank kids anymore, violence perpetrated by kids has gone up! A quick smack on the bottom is a far cry from being put through a window! It's a last resort, sure, but it's not abuse.

      Your point about the difference between discipline and beating. I am 21 myself, and i was hit or smacked by parents as a kid too and my dad especially always insists he is sorry for it, but i always tell him: No he shouldnt be, a smack here or there and disciplinary upbringing is only good for a child. I NEVER had a problem with my parents being strict on me....

      I agree that physical punishment should not be used whenthe child is old enough to reason with, if you are "spanking" a 16 year old, you have gone too far. However, when a child is very young the association of minor pain (a spanking on an arm leg or hand) along with a since of parental dissatisfaction with stern voice etc. while the child is in the process of the unaceptable act is another entirely.

    The real issue is proper parenting. I'm glad that the majority of comments already posted have picked up on this. There will be the exceptional kids that have real problems, however, it's not kids that have gone down the drain .. it's the parents. e.g. You can get the odd faulty computer - but suppose you stick a faulty program in loads of computers .. you get more crashes, more wasted time, more repair bills .. just like wasted kids.

    We used to be able to swat the kids. The kids that grew up in the 70's and 80's are seeing the results of lack of disapline. Spare the rod, spoil the child. Now you know why this country is going down the drain. Kids know they can get away with anything. I say if the father would have taken his belt off, swatted the child on the butt one time like my father did to me. You wouldnt see things like this happening in the world.     about being "allowed" to smack your kids. I got a smack numerous times growing up when I deserved it. It didn't make me want to bash other people or commit murders as "do-gooders" say today.     wow, if i was that dad, i would firstly regret having the brat, secondly run him over with the trolley then I would trick him by actually putting the sweets into the trolley and when I got to the till i would sneekily take them out and pay for everthing including the type of sallotape you use on boxes and I would sprint to the car and quickly sallotape him to his seat, remembering to sallotape that big mouth of his, got home left him in the car for a bit then if i was up to it i would sallotape him the a wall in his room or his bed, either one, feeding him health products. lol, that would teach him to not mess with me.lol (another thing you could do is instead of taking the car you could always take the bus and sallotape him to one of the seats saying dangerous, do not approach lol, then you would never have to deal with the little brat again. actually, i might try that the next time i baby sit lol, only jokin, after seeing this advert I don't think I want to babysit ever again coz babay sitting may be the excuse of not having to be around kids you weren't ment to have!!!! think about that

      it's called acting - NOT REAL. even if a kid did act like that it's probably not their fault. ever heard of ADHD or ADD you small minded idiot! children with SpLDs like those need to be shown compassion before they can improve. hitting them only adds to the problem. i should know, my brother had ADHD and my parents are phycologists. they have helped him improve massivly and never once used violence.
      P.S. the vast majority of the commemts here make me feel sick. i am 15 and i have a greater understanding of chld phycology then you, it's saddening!
