John McCain graduated 894 out of 899 in his class at the US Naval Academy in 1958. That is 5th from the bottom.

He became a pilot. Like his grandfather and father, both admirals, neither doing well at USNA but all becoming extraordinarily successful men.

McCain spent 51/2 years in a POW camp in Vietnam. Solitary confinement for 2 years. And now he has been a Senator for 20 years...

Like George Bush, McCain has learned to compensate for his average intelligence by surrounding himself with some brilliant talented people...

Would you believe McCain and his campaign knew - knew - how the GOP Primaries would play out according to the positioning of the candidates. Even the conservative base was left trying to figure out what happened, and even today it hasn't been fully grasped yet by Republicans.

Obama has laid out a 50 state strategy to contest every electoral vote, conceding none. It's early, Obama is leading big, but something McCain said the other day is on my mind.
