This is not a trick skill - and he is better at shooting. I would not want to be in a gunfight with Tomasie.

The real test of gunfighting, outside of a fight, is the El Presidente and he can shoot a perfect score in under 5 seconds consistently with an unmodified 1911. With that rig he can get into the low 4s or high 3s.

What this means is that if you and two buddies confronted him from behind on the street and went to draw your guns, he could turn around, draw, put two rounds in each of you before you had your pistols up, reload, then shoot each of you two more times before you could fire your second round.

If he can move to cover, and continue to move, taking shots, then there is no way most people could even get a shot off before he hit you and then ducked behind cover. Even if you had ten guys in a street with a bunch of cars, he'd kill each of you. He is that good.

Because he is so smooth, even if he was shot in the heart, he could continue to place rounds and kill until his brain shut down. Thats another ten seconds. This means he can shoot another 30 rounds, most of which would hit.

This video is just a demonstration of one skill used in IPSC/IDPA type shooting. As someone mentioned, the guy in the video is a member of the Army shooting team, so obviously he knows the difference between competitive/recreational shooting and battle.

Having SEEN Travis Tomasie shoot in person many many times, I can say he IS that good. And it isn't just reloading, he is a world-class shooter.

He is not reloding the gun. Review the video and you'll see he doesn't have anything in his hand! Watch how on the first load, he even looks down for the charger. Watch how the first load is not as easy as the sencond. BS.

Let's seem him do that with Bullets flying towards him.
What he is doing can be done with training, but I guarantee he couldn't do it while being shot at.

I know people that shoot pistols competitively It's awesome to watch I never was that good. but until you see someone hit 5 targets in less than a second from a draw you havn't seen nothin! Too bad guns arn't durable in combat sitation battery powered dot scope pistols very expensive custom made,notice the large magazine well

but the SWAT guy from New Jersey should know better than to call it a clip. Pistols have magazines not clips. Might sound kind of trivial but attention to detail never hurts. Yeah, I am a police officer in California and a former paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. I do know what I am talking about.

I'd like to see him try and do that with someone shooting back at him, then I bet he'd piss his pants and would magically have trouble reloading.

I can do that without even thinking about it...it is taught if you have the right instructor during your S.W.A.T. Training. Its really not too difficult, you just need to be comfortable with your belt of ammo. Other then that, the quick release will drop the clip and then you simply throw another in..

People who use guns are lame and cant voice concerns or settle problems without them. These people are sad..

i spent 3 years in miltary school and i was one of the best but i never saw this speed in reloading i admire this guy so much ,,,nice clip

ive fired guns in kuwait, and even while paying attention its quite difficult to get the clip on swiftly every time, even at a normal speed, to be like him you would need speed and great positioning for your hand and knowing exactly where the clip is on ur body, otherwise u could get hurt, with that speed u get cut ur finger off or hurt it.. but it doesnt help much cos while in a shooting situation its impossible to think and react that fast or even be standing that straight.

this bloke travis shoots in the IPSC which is an obstacle course where you have to shoot metal/cardboard targets. many competitors, fastest to finsh the course wins. there is actually a chinese film about it called "double tap" very good film, watch it :(

It's a gun specifically modified for competition (dot sight, mag funnel) that would be of very little -- if any -- use in combat. The magazine pouch is also competition - only. He'll make a lot of IPSC points with that rig, but a combat gunfighter could easily take him apart with a standard fixed - sight Kimber in a dark alley, drawing from concealment while this guy was still strapping on his gear.

Unless he's simulating a tactical reload (where you reload simply because you have time, rather than because your gun is empty), the demonstration lacks an important element. If his gun had run dry, the slide would have locked open. He'd have to do that slick magazine swap (and -- please -- it is a magazine, not a clip) and then drop the slide closed with the slide release, chambering the first round of that fresh magazine.

Some pistols are designed deliberately with touchy slide releases -- or modified -- so that if you slap a loaded magazine into the grip hard enough, the jolt will pop the release and the gun will charge itself automatically. I don't like that, because it tends to give me M1 Thumb when I'm rooting around in the action trying to clear a jam.

If you're a fan of tactical reloads, though, you certainly ought to practice them like this. Loading a closed gun is different from loading an open gun: in a closed gun the top round of the magazine will meet the bottom of the slide and be forced down into the mag a bit just before the mag locks into place, and provide some spring resistance. If you're not used to tactical reloads, you may end up stopping when you hit the resistance, rather than stopping when you lock the mag into place; thereafter as soon as you move your left hand the fresh mag will fall out onto the ground and you'll be left scrabbling after it with only the one round in the chamber.

thats a nice technique.
But it probably takes alot of conentration to pull of something like that with bullets flying around all over.
Things have a tendency to get real messy, real fast, and people tend to fumble their clips due to stress related symptoms of active combat etc.
But it was a cool clip.

Also... the bullet from the clip isn't chambered when the new clip is put in... so he won't be shooting anything but the sound of a "click". is this right?

I did that while ice skating and saving 72 children from a train wreck. This video is of him wishing he was as cool as me. It's good to see somebody follow in your footsteps. In my case craters, the ground can't tolerate my leg muscles.

2 moving that fast with a weapon is cool but also a good way to jam a gun.
3 even though he got a clip in it that fast there still is no round chambered because he never jacked one in

seriously... i think this trick is useless in street combat. Usually you want to get covert while you fire/ reload/ etc... isnt it?
