Gas prices have been going up with no sight of a ceiling, so we headed over to the street to find out the average Joe and Jane's view on this ever increasing problem, and to get their prediction for gas prices on Jan 1st, 2009. We also give you some simple tips on saving gas, and spoke to a Toyota and Hummer dealer to find out how increasing gas prices are affecting their sales.   • How I dream of only $4 per gallon

    In the UK, petrol is around £1.20 (about $2.40) per litre ... or slightly over $9 per US gallon. Diesel is £1.30 per litre or $9.70 per US gallon (in round numbers). It makes my eyes water thinking about it!

    Note I specify US gallon - A UK gallon is 1.2 US gallons, but as we now buy in litres (and have done for a long time), then this is not really relevant ;-)
