      They brought a child rapist into my 30 man cell in the medical ward and he got fucked up, the gaurds brought him in on purpose just to be beaten. But he was mexican so I only got to watch.     knowing i'm in prison with people like this who brutally killed a child would piss me off too enough to beat the shit out of him. Most prisoners are not horrible people but ones that made mistakes or just choose to live above the law and rules of society but animals who get locked up for murder of children or rape dont belong anywhere in society even prison. Prisoners dont want to be known as these type of people or even mentioned in the same breath. Theft, embezzlement, you name it they all carry out a sentence but in prison or in public a guy like that needs to get beat to DEATH and another prisoner is the best candidate to carry out the task..FACT

    No...why does the world have such an obsession with revenge? In countries with the death penalty, it's not like there are less murders...are these punishments actually convincing people not to commit crimes? Of course not.

    The system should not be about revenge against the criminal---it would be just as sick and wrong to take pleasure in someone else's pain, as it is commit the crime.

    On a slight religious side note...you can look at nearly every religion, and they preach forgiveness, and that we are not here to cause harm---it is left up to whatever God you believe in to "judge" others. So why take pleasure in someone else's suffering? Why push for more? Let him serve his jail time, and that's all---he will never murder another person, but does it really make anything better to kill him or to beat him up?

      One of the ten commandments is "Thou shalt not kill". And some will say the Bible contradicts itself by the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth statement when compared to the commandment. There is no contradiction. It's a compliment. There is a punishment for a crime. The Bible also says in Genesis 9:6 something like if a man takes anothers life then by mans hands thou shalt also die. I can't remember the words exactly.

      Of course the kid won't come back to life. But if the guy committed the crime then there is a penalty to pay. And it should be severe. If he picks up a few beatings before he's sentenced, Kudos to the ones who dished it out.

      If we do away with the penalties for crime or make them too easy, this world will get a whole lot worse than it is now.

      Crimes start little. If a child doesn't learn early that there are penalties for doing bad, then they will do much worse when they are older. As adults if we only get a slap on the hand for a crime, then the crime will be commited again, and the next time it will get worse. The penalty needs to be as severe as the crime to be an effective deterrent. There is no pleasure for a normal human being in seeing someone die. But there is some comfort in knowing this guy won't ever kill another child if he is put to death after being found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

      I'd say this is pretty clear as to what the penalty is for "Thou shalt not kill".

      Seamouse, you mentioned forgiveness, yes, this man can be forgiven, but he must still bear the punishment.
