    Everyone seems to think the driver was trying to pull up to the ATM; if you watch closely you'll notice that the driver is far beyond the ATM and actually trying to drive around the canopy but just manages to catch the corner of it with his camper.

      Actualy it's a drive up lane at a bank not an ATM (note the clear tube going up). But yes, he either missjudged the size of his trailer or tried to go around at the last second. That awning crushed part of the truck, hope he's ok.

    It's not a camper and it's not a travel trailer. It's called a fifth wheel. the turning characteristics of a fifth wheel are totally different than a typical rear hitch trailer, because the hitch point is directly over the rear axle, not behind it. The schmuck just miscalculated where the fifth wheel would track when he was trying to make a turn. This has nothing to do with an ATM, except that the ATM security camera got the whole thing recorded.

    he was pulling around the bank on july 2nd and cut it too close to the canopy. He already went in the bank. He was in the truck with his 10 year old son. He hit the canopy and heard it start to crash, undid his seatbelt and jumped to the passenger side just before the canopy crushed the drivers side of the truck. Minor scrapes is all he got out of this.... damn lucky!

      At approximately 3 PM, Tuesday, July 2, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, pulling a new travel trailer, hit the corner of the Texas State Bank Drive-In on Tenaha Street, causing the complete awning to come to the ground. Luckily, the driver of the Dodge, Mickey Miller, of Garrison and his 10 year old son were able to exit their vehicle uninjured.

      According to Miller he was circling the bank to park on the other side when the corner of his travel trailer caught the corner of the bank awning. Next thing he heard was a rumble as the awning started falling against his driver's side door. Somehow he was able to unbuckle the seat beat and exit the other side of his truck as it was falling.
