Turn Laptop / Desktop Monitor Off with System Wide Hot Key, Desktop Shortcut, Shutdown, Hibernate and much more with Turn Off Monitor Utility (from http://www.monitoroff.com).
Turning Monitor Off is different than running blank screensaver.
The Utility can be used as a substitute in case of monitor problem of on / off switch is not working. The Utility's working (i.e turning monitor off by using software) needs to be supported by the montherboard to succcessfully switching monitor off using software / utility.
