Bus Crash [13+]

I agree with the previous driver. Seat belts on a school bus would hinder the evacuation process. A School Bus is the safest form of land transportation available. The number of serious school bus accidents that have fatalities are extremely low and rare.
It's actually the drivers of cars around school buses that cause the majority of school bus accidents. Think about it... how many times have you sped up and passed a school bus so you wouldn't have to stop when they put their stop sign out to load/unload kids? How many times have you cut off a school bus because you think that you think the school bus is moving too slow?
School Bus Drivers have a difficult job. I know I wouldn't want to do it. How many teachers do you know who would turn their back on 50 kids?

This happened in Circleville, Ohio when the bus driver swerved right to miss a car (instead of hitting it head-on). It rolled when she tried to get it back on the road. She'd been driving for the school for four years. None of the 30 kids on the bus was seriously injured.

What makes the video even harder to watch are the screams of the kids AFTER the roll-over. I can't stand to hear kids screaming like that. Yeah, some bus companies have seat-belts where I come from - but they aren't mandatory, nor are they enforced. This video could change their minds.

I'm guessing you have never been on a school bus. As far as safe goes, they are not safe. They are flimsy tubes of seats and aluminium on an extended truck frame. Admittedly they are in fewer accidents , but you hear about everyone of them in an accident, like a plane crash. I rode school busses most of my time in school and trust me they are dangerous, and when they hit a big bump the kids in the seats behind the axle can hit the roof if the bus is doind highway speed, as many do in the rural areas. So get that notion that school busses are safe out of your heads, it is not the case.

on school busses is money, pure and simple. The seats are NOT bolted into the frame of a bus, they are bolted into sheet metal, seat belts bolted to the seats or the sheet metal would tear loose, to install seat belts to hold all 32 passengers requires the weight of the passengers AND the seats to be held to the frame of the bus during a collision, the bus would have to designed for that purpose and they never have been. That would cost $$$$$$$ and won't happen until a FEDERAL law requires it and THAT aint going to happen because the FEDs would have to subsidize that into either Education or Transportation budgets.
