    i have an 05 stratus R/T(most certainly not the fastest car , but i school rice burners all the time, it handles like its foreign , but it has american muscle, and the COBRA was BARELY pulling away from the charger the second time, not to mention the SVT was pre-tuned for Drag Racing by Lincoln Mercury

    and the DR's. You put drag radials and gears on the SRT8 and it beats the cobra without a doubt. That is why the cobra would launch quicker, but after the launch wouldn't gain at all on the charger. Comparisons like this should only be done with similar mod's.

    BTW... I beat a newer Vette today in my Charger SRT8. ;)

  • Poor Comparison

    Obviously Mustang enthusiasts. Just got my SRT8. Went up against stock brand new GT500 and stock 05 Cobra. Beat them both marginally, actually the 05 SVT did better than the GT500. Still pretty impressive for the SRT8, it is a beast at 4200lbs. I like Mustang's as much as the next enthusiast but Ford's gotta get away from that supercharger coming factory and throw some real muscle in. Let the consumer decide how they want to pump the engine after the warranty is finished.

    • Stock GT500's run 12's

      first off with a driver and a brain. My 03 Cobra runs 11's with MINOR tuning and good exhaust. I love Dodge, but they are not in the same league as tthe blower cobra's. A crappy driver can run 15's in a 12 second car.

      I'll agree that the 4 door is a Dodge mistake, but don't call the 6.1 Hemi crappy. Take a basic GS platform to the SRT and you'll run a low 12. Spend twenty and you'll run sub 12. Can't do that with the Ford powerplant and a 4200lb car. As I say Ford has gotta step up with a new engine, you have to agree on that.

      P.S. Sorry it wasn't an 05 SVT, it was an 03 and I just learned it was modified and supposedly running over 400 to the rear.
      All my SRT has is the Mopar air system for $370.
      Also the guy running the GT500 sucked. Only ran once at a 30 start, didn't want to go again. Guy doesn't deserve a beautiful car like that.

      4:45 gears is too steep for the 4.6L, The power band get's all jacked and I have seen it make the blown Cobra's slower at the track. 4:10's are the perfect gear!

      my 03 Cobra weighs 3,978lbs. and runs 11.70's. A bigger blower pulley and some trick exhaust and I pulled 479rwhp and 484rwtq and that's with a 4.6L! You have 1 1/2 liters on me, but I do love SRT's! Ford needs to make the GT500's 5.4L standard in all GT's I think, or hell, go back to the 5.0L and Blow that Froged motor!
