    • Actually the first few time the mongoose...

      until they recover and which they have developed a tolerance to the venom. Until they recover they are vulnerable, and they don't fair so well against a faster snake such as a rattler as I've seen a couple of times elsewhere. Also a constrictor like you mentioned would make a quick snack out of the mongoose as nothing really ever developes a tolerance to being sqeezed to death.
