  • air flow

if you have air flow over the wings then you have enogh to take of... if the plan needs 30kmh take off in zero wind then all that it means is that you need a head wind spead of 30kmh to take of. so if you have head wind of 30kmh then all you need to do is use the engin to go that litle bit forward.... this is a piper cub,,, normaly yellow as we know them,, these planes are known for takeing off in short take offs...

  • Air Flow

Air flow across the wing is all about lift. The more wind the shorter takeoff.
A 30 mph wind with 30 mph airplane(flying) into it equals an airplane that is stationary. STOL kits really help - lots of power also.

  • WHAT WIND?

I am no pilot but if he is landing in a strong head wind that accounts for the short landing. So since he took off in the same direction how does a head wind account fo the short take off? wind or no wind i say it is skillful flying by pilot. I guess you will try to tell that the wind changed direction. We are not sure what the wind factor was but i am damn certain a pilot was flying that plane and i give him five stars.

Wind there is the force generated by the propeller to "pull" the aicraft forward. The greater the rpm of the prop, and the lighter the aircraft, results to a shorter take off.Shrt landing is done by,yes, skillful caculation of speed, altitude and reversed rpm of thepropeller.Of course, all these wont be possible without skillful maneuvering of the pilot

  • What makes these

Planes STOL is the increased wing area, these are bush planes with these tires they can also they can take off and land on less the pavement smooth ground, at the air field where i'm taking my lessons they have 2 Cessnas the same model but one has a STOL kit, side by side the increased wing area is very noticable.

  • It's the planes.

Yes it's the wind, but it also has to do with the type of plane. I don't know alot but I do know that the Helio (which I don't think has been manufactured for 20 years or more) can take off in less than 50 yards with know wind.

  • I'm not surprise

But how it can be done this way?
