I can even improve on your method. Place the coconut in the deepfreeze for 20 minutes before draining ..... then crack open ..... The earliest I can remember seeing this done dates back to the 1970's. ....

If ever caught on a deserted isle, make sure to remember to bring a bottle opener, jar, hammer, and most importantly, a refrigerator. Got it :)

Very neat, didn't know it'll work. However, coconut's flesh that we eat here, are somewhat soft and not that thick, where you can scoop it easily with a spoon...

the trick is good for old coconuts.... but hey i love your coconuts..you are hot!

After living in the Philippines for 8 years I got to know about coconuts. first off, the one in the video, in fact almost all of the ones sold here in the states are old and the "meat" is really only good for cooking. The thicker the inside is, the older it is. Second, you scrape the "meat" from the inside of the shell, you don't cut it out. In the Philippines they have a special tool just for this. And lastly, in a young coconut, the "meat" is only a 4th of an inch thick which makes it good for eating right from the shell and so easy to remove it can be done with a spoon.
