The Mcclaren F1 is an overrated car as well... The Mcclaren F1 has the potential of being the fastest car in the world... But it has never gotten there.. Many cars have proven speeds faster and many cars can pull better track times

The McLaren F1 was the fastest stock production car in the world from the time it was made up until 2 years ago. All with a 636hp BMW engine. (Bugatti needed a 1001hp VW engine to go a mere 10mph faster)

lol there is more than that to the bugatti... yeah its only a little faster but you can let the Mclaren get to 120 before the bugatti veyron even starts and it will still beat it to the top speed. (And Bugatti is owned by Volkswagen ahhem.)

If you let the McLaren get to 120 the Veyron cannot catch up before the F1 makes it to it's top speed.

It's quite clear that the Skyline is not that sorted as even mine pulls away faster than that and it only has 420bhp. Either that or the guy in the skyline doesn't know how to pull away in a Skyline.

The reason any supercar will get away from a Skyline after 100 is purely down to areodynamics, the Skyline is as aerodynamic as a brick compared with something like an F1, so it's always going to be at a disadvantage.

And for information of others in the posts below, a Skyline is not 'shitty.'

The skyline is standard in this video because it's top gear, what would be the point of comparing the skyline to the f1 if it was modified? The reason the f1 pulls away from the skyline is a lot more than aerodynamics, what about power to weight ratios, gearing, gearchange speed etc....? The f1 is obviously far better than the skyline, the only thing better than an f1 is an Enzo

The skyline will pull away from most 'supercars' from rest due to the intelligent non-permanent four wheel drive system. Hence my comment was directed at the top end speeds where the F1 is more aerodynamic and has less work to do than the skyline.

Yes gearing is a factor, but imo Aerodynamics are a bigger one in the case of these two cars.

At the end of the day, I don't see the point of doing a test where the precursive comment is 'Really really fast car' in reference to a machine that is standard form. Everyone and his dog knows that the real key to a skyline is not just it's 4 wheel drive 4 wheel steering system but also the RB26 block that is without displacement modification able to push 550bhp reliably with very little on the car changed. A more valid test would have been to use another super car, although a test using a ~500-600bhp skyline would have been much more fair.

This is not a test the outcome was obvious from the start, and I am fully aware of why the skyline is a good car, however a skyline with 550 bhp is not a good car. Production cars with 550hp standard are far better all round. The skyline engine is in the wrong place to beat any decent supercar round a track, no matter how modified it is. You can talk about 4 wheel steering and turbos and whatever else all you want, but when it comes down to it the skyline is just not good enough to compete with supercars, and is beaten here because of its weight, low power and inferior engineering in general. Aerodynamics only come into play at around 40mph, the skyline should be destroying the f1 at this stage if what you say is true but isn't. The f1's engine weight over the rear wheels is increasing traction.

Engine weight can only do so much to improve the traction in my opinion it's not really much competition for four wide wheels all planting power to floor.

I you rev a Skyline to about 7k RPM and dump the clutch, the Skyline will screach just a little bit but on the whole has traction and away you go.

Try doing that in an F1, and then assess which direction you are facing.

I have seen a Mclaren at the parking of where I work. AMAZING! Some guy told me that if there is a problem with the car, a chopper will come and pick it up (not sure if that is true or not). But easily one of the nicest cars I have ever seen.

If you put an F1 and a Veyron on the starting line and let the F1 start, you can let the F1 reach 120 mph before the Veyron started and the Veyron would still beat it to 200 mph.

A production car is made to last, you buy it and u know u can use it every day if u want so cause its prepare for it. For all the weathers and conditions. Thats why Veyron took so much time to come out. U are talking of tuned cars, that are prepare to do some fast races...with all the stupid thing in their engines...to get all the hp u can get. But those cars cannot drive 300 km cause they will break. Thats the diference between a car and a machine built just to race 1/4 mile. So my friend pick that accord full of S**t and i pick a veyron and we make a race between Paris and Rome for example...i am sure my beetle beat u cause u will be in the shop after the first hour.

You obviously don't know much about skylines. They are modified skylines running 9's in the quarter mile on a daily basis which is much faster than the Mclaren's low 11 high 10s trap speed.

Anything modified can be fast. Think 9's are fast? Lisa Kubo got a Saturn Ion into the 7's... Mclarens are built to be fast

you really need to get your head out of japan's ass, the f1 probly has twice as much power as the r34 stock for stock.

The Skyline (this is an R33) has approx 320 bhp, whilst the Mclaren has roughly 620... the F1 weighs almost 200 kilos less (R33 about 1700 kg's).
But a modded Skyline would trash the F1 easily, check GTR1000KW.com or something similar, Skyline's have been known to produce up to 1700 bhp and run in low 8's on a street setup!!

despite how much i love the older skylines (the new ones are now "luxury sport cars") there is no way you can compare it to a million dollar car.

that said, what you pay for when buying a skyline is pretty good for your dollar.

First of all, a heavily modded skyline would kill the McLaren. As stated before, the McLaren would probably beat a skyline around a track, the 4 wheel drive induces massive understeer unless the car is provoked to oversteer. A Skyline around a track with lets say 1000hp is just too much to handle, not to mention turbo lag, and grip issues. Which isn't to say that a Mine's Skyline Version with 650-700 hp, with custom suspension might but the McLaren to test. To answer Scronymans statement. If your McLaren breaks down, they fly a technician to look at your care a.s.a.p. which would include the use of a heli. And no, the Z06, as much as I love it, would not come close to beating a tweaked Skyline or McLaren, in a straight line or around a track.

ANYTHING can be modified to beat anything stock. I've seen minivans and K-cars run 10's. I've seen a streetable fox-body run 7's. Run what ya brung and don't cry when ya lose. Unless you are comparing stock for stock there is no point in arguing cause mods change everything. (Oh, and comparing the two cars above in stock form is a bit absurd).

... so lets say... stock vs stock... ztune r34 skyline vs any production car... skyline's rule!

A midified Skyline is faster only in straight lane.On a race track any modified car like Skyline Eclipse Bmw are S**t on a race track

are sucky, too bulky, too heavy, non streamlined and overrated by far. generally they've had the S**t driven out of them, and personally the mclaren is a touch of class. its the diff between driving a loud ugly thing, and a sleek, fast beauty.
