This is not magic but a very useful and very easy way to tie two pieces of rope together without them ever slipping apart.

  • Excellent!

First, I wish I had seen this years ago. I've lost count of the number of times I've needed to tie two ropes together. Secondly, thanks for the high-quality video. I like the blue background. Everything is in focus, and you presented it in a way that's very easy to follow. I'm a huge fan of "easy" and "simple." LOL! My compliments for a job well done. Five stars from me.

    • ...

its not a fisherman's, its a double overhand, a double fisherman's is different. unless my HRST instuctor taught me wrong...and i doubt it

  • Opinion

I just took a look into my big Larousse encyclopedia in 7 volumes from 1904 : this knot is in there and called "noeud du pêcheur" , I.e. "fisherman's knot. Very classical knot. So Dave is right.
    Good video 5*

  • Fisherman"s Knot

Fishermen use this knot to tie broken lines coz if you just tie two fish lines using an overhand knot, it will just break.

    Fisherman's Knot.

I know a better knot. It's called a Constrictor Knot.

    • What are you saying?

Not useful? If so, why give it a good rating?
Or, perhaps you can't spell knot. Right?

      By BITCHY1 1218135254
    • Geez. Now that you've scratched his eyes...

you might as well tear his crotch out with your teeth. Knotty girl.

    • Reef knot is another name for square kno...

The knot in the video is a Double Fisherman's Bend, aka Grapevine bend
It is NOT a ship shang, sheepshank, sheep dip, shanghai or any other nonsense you can come up with!

      By Takeabyte 1218015245
    • Stretch knot

      i think it's called a stretch knot

      By cufemeng 1217957601
    • No it is not

This is not a reef knot. You clearly weren't in the Boy Scouts.

Although a reef knot is an alternative way to tie two ropes together without them slipping.

      By zf17 1217956265
    • you idiot ...

it would be a disgrace if u were a boy scout ...
      tat isnt reef knot ...
      its ship shang ..
anyway ... if u pay attention to the strings used to tie up lockets ... they use this knot most of the time ... simply becoz its diameter can be changed ..
      cheers !
      good video btw

      By Mysterious Kay 1217951507
    • Ship Shang??

You mean Sheep Shank (actually Sheepshank), and this isn't a Sheepshank knot.

A Sheepshank is used to shorten a single piece of rope, without cutting it.

      By zf17 1217956410
    • Fishermans knot

As stated, this is a Fishermans knot - particularly good for tying nylon fishing lines

      By Dave21002002 1218196982
    • Perhaps you wer a Chinese Brownie.

You mean Sheep Shank, and that's not what this is.
