First, I wish I had seen this years ago. I've lost count of the number of times I've needed to tie two ropes together. Secondly, thanks for the high-quality video. I like the blue background. Everything is in focus, and you presented it in a way that's very easy to follow. I'm a huge fan of "easy" and "simple." LOL! My compliments for a job well done. Five stars from me.

By Devina 1218325225 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI just took a look into my big Larousse encyclopedia in 7 volumes from 1904 : this knot is in there and called "noeud du pêcheur" , I.e. "fisherman's knot. Very classical knot. So Dave is right.
Good video 5*
Fishermen use this knot to tie broken lines coz if you just tie two fish lines using an overhand knot, it will just break.
Fisherman's Knot.
I know a better knot. It's called a Constrictor Knot.
very useful

By sailor86 1217888216 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeit's called a reef knot
By barrabas50 1217881811 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removelovely one too
By vipseconds 1217898797 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe knot in the video is a Double Fisherman's Bend, aka Grapevine bend
It is NOT a ship shang, sheepshank, sheep dip, shanghai or any other nonsense you can come up with!
i think it's called a stretch knot
By cufemeng 1217957601 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is not a reef knot. You clearly weren't in the Boy Scouts.
Although a reef knot is an alternative way to tie two ropes together without them slipping.
it would be a disgrace if u were a boy scout ...
tat isnt reef knot ...
its ship shang ..
anyway ... if u pay attention to the strings used to tie up lockets ... they use this knot most of the time ... simply becoz its diameter can be changed ..
cheers !
good video btw
You mean Sheep Shank (actually Sheepshank), and this isn't a Sheepshank knot.
A Sheepshank is used to shorten a single piece of rope, without cutting it.
As stated, this is a Fishermans knot - particularly good for tying nylon fishing lines
By Dave21002002 1218196982 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYou mean Sheep Shank, and that's not what this is.
