also about brit. its true she has been elevated to iconic status as of current, but it certainly isnt because of her talent, all of her subsequent releases after her debut sold less and less. no one will ever confuse her for mariah , whitney or celine. brit will be a memory in a few years. maybe sooner. its the paris hiltons and lindsey lohans that make by blood boil

i agree with you there, and it seems shes more famous for not making records these days, but im not talking necessarily about their media profiles, im strictly speaking from a chart point of view, billboard chart to be exact, and i have to tell you, its pretty evenly divided black and white. 15, 20 years ago it was mostly white. and its all because of the hip/hop culture which has infiltrated into white america....

disco - I think that you and I will definitely see this one from different perspectives. Please don't get me wrong, there ARE talented white artists out there but come on, let's be real, the most successful stars out today are young, white females. Some of these stars are famous for no real reason. Brittany Spears is mega famous but it's not because she's the most talented singer... She's been elevated to an icon/Goddess, supassing the best talent in the industry; black or white.

discoguy - I didn't know that Bianca's album flopped becaue I don't follow such things anymore... However, it's easy to think that she did exceptionally well, given that people like ragdump, elevating her youtube views as proof that she is somehow better and more successful than the original. Good point though...

also bianca is not elevated to super stardom by no means, her debut disc was a bit of a flop. but some people here think u-tube views are the the ONLY measurement of popularity that counts. maybe in the cyber world, but not the real world. out side of u-tube most people dont know who she is.

i agree with most of what you say slim, how ever i dont think its necessarily a black white thing here, its true black singers have come a long way alicia keys, beyonce,janet, brandy, monica, and the countless girl groups. and some of them i feel their talent is questionable, but i feel there are just as many successfull young white artists as there are black. every time i turn on the radio i hear a black artist, look at the billboard top 10 pop chart, its pretty evenly stacked.

discoguy - So true disco! It's really sickening to see all of these talentless folks being elevated to superstardom for nothing other than being white; with some talent and looks! They really elevate the white girls mores... The industry is not making BRAND NEW artists in the caliber of Holiday etc... They would presume to just put out cute or good looking, white mediocre copy-kats for white consumers to see them as the greatest thing since sliced bread~!

Look, there's no doubt that black artists have broken through the glass ceiling and have done exeptionally well but they are the exceptions! Stop denying that the average white person (especially in Amerikkka) consistently support artists/singers who only LOOK LIKE THEM! This day and age of youth obsession (driven by the mainstream), young white artists do MUCH BETTER, even if they are mediocre in talent. Hanna Montanna is a perfect example; she's young, white and nothing extraordinary!
